As a public school teacher in Turkiye with over a decade of experience, I recognized that educational inequality stems from the lack of adaptive pedagogical expertise in resource-limited settings. While teachers in privileged schools can dedicate hours to mastering diverse instructional models (Blended Learning, Flipped Classroom, Personalized Pacing), teachers in high-pressure public schools are confined to rigid, one-size-fits-all methods.
Crucially, generic AI tools failed to solve this, offering content without context. They couldn't dynamically switch from a "Collaborative Learning" model to a "Direct Instruction" model when a teacher reports low student discipline or high noise levels.
We created Okuyz to engineer an end to this rigidity. Our mission is to democratize Model-Driven Instruction. Okuyz is designed as a dynamic AI co-pilot that not only creates a plan but also adapts the underlying teaching philosophy and model (e.g., from Inquiry-Based to Mastery Learning) in real-time, based on the teacher's unique classroom reality. By providing this adaptive intelligence, we empower every educator—regardless of their training or school budget—to deliver instruction that is precisely suited to their students, fostering true social equity.
In practice, Okuyz operates as a dynamic, model-switching intelligence that engineers pedagogical strategies based on real-world classroom constraints. The process begins with context: the teacher inputs crucial background conditions including class size, general academic success (achievement), and current student discipline status. We are continually refining this critical data ingestion component to incorporate deeper, real-time student metrics.
Our proprietary 'Pedagogical Needs Analyzer' instantly processes these inputs to perform two critical tasks:
AI-Driven Model Selection: The analyzer intelligently selects the most effective instructional model. For example, high academic achievement and self-direction may trigger a recommendation for UbD (Understanding by Design) to promote depth of knowledge, whereas a complex topic coupled with high class size might prompt a structured blend of Direct Instruction and PBL (Project-Based Learning). The AI's decision to switch models ensures the strategy is viable under challenging Global South classroom realities.
Adaptive Classroom Management: The resulting model-driven plan is integrated into a live 'Classroom Management Panel' view. This panel delivers AI-driven, context-specific guidance to the teacher. If the plan requires collaborative work (a key component of PBL), but the discipline status is low, the panel offers an immediate in-lesson guide (e.g., "Implement staggered group check-ins now to mitigate distraction risk").
Okuyz is currently in an active pilot phase in Türkiye, with teachers rigorously testing the platform's adaptive features. This pilot phase is crucial for validating the core innovation: its ability to dynamically change models. Our growth is fueled by direct teacher feedback demonstrating that this level of adaptability is revolutionary for their daily practice.
To address real-world challenges faced by teachers in their classrooms, we developed the Adaptive Classroom Management Dashboard, which enables AI to integrate real-time behavioral strategies based on discipline data. This iterative and user-centered development facilitates the final product's seamless adaptation to challenging classroom dynamics in economically and income-inequitable settings.
Our technical architecture was built for immediate global scalability by a co-founder with extensive experience in distributed systems. Following successful validation of the model-changing and management features in our pilot project, we are preparing for a public V2.0 launch in early 2026.
From its inception, Okuyz was designed to address the "implementation gap," the critical gap between pedagogical theory and the complex, resource-poor reality of the classroom. Our innovative approach didn't revolve around a single axis; rather, each change and addition deepened our initial commitment to context-aware, adaptive teaching.
Our co-founder's ten years of experience as a public teacher revealed a fundamental truth: A plan must be applicable in the face of high class sizes, low discipline, and resource scarcity. This belief led us to develop our core technology, the Pedagogical Needs Analyzer, as a first draft, not as an afterthought.
Our additions since the initial drafting phase have focused on maximizing real-world applicability and equity:
Recognizing that discipline and implementation are the biggest obstacles in under-resourced schools, we integrated an in-class guidance panel. This change transforms a static plan into a real-time co-pilot offering immediate support, making complex pedagogy applicable to any teacher.
