Strong decision-making can lead to the implementation of evidence-based practices that are more effective in improving student learning and outcomes. With the help of ODE, we wish to revolutionize the education system by giving young minds a platform to decide what is the best outcome for them. This will give them the strength to pursue their dreams and better understand themselves.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

As a young individual, I witnessed real-life problems faced by my age group. Young adults lack experience following the criteria of misleading/wrong information or misguiding peer pressure. By teaching young adults how to make decisions and how it can support making a meaningful life, decision-making costs for all involved parties can be reduced or even eliminated.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

My company, ODE, is developing a mobile application for the global group of GenZ and Millennials. Based on feedback from over 500 youngsters from five continents, the app's bottom-up approach offers subscriptions of ODE, the decision-support-app, to parents, educators, government agencies, and employers to bridge the gap of information, training, performance, and well-being in decision-making.

The ODE app supports the strategic goals of providing students with knowledge and understanding of the cognitive and affective elements of decisions, the benefits of self-determined decisions, and the influential forces on decision-making.

By providing a comprehensive, holistic approach to decision-making, the ODE app helps students develop a more nuanced understanding of the decision-making process and how to make more effective and responsible decisions. This in turn supports the strategic goals of promoting self-determined, informed and responsible decision making skills in the students.

How has it been spreading?

Our active user base is 500 individuals, with majority of them being young adults who are seeking to improve their decision-making and resilience skills. In India, we have trained 100 students and have 30+ university ambassadors who are actively promoting our solution. Additionally, we have also worked with 3 principals from different educational institutions. In Nepal, we have trained 110 young adults, as well as 50 students, 40 teachers, 35 professors, 30 parents and 3 trainers. We believe that by providing training to a diverse group of individuals, we can create a bigger impact in the communities we serve. We believe that by focusing on creating small revenues but bigger impact, we can create a sustainable business model that allows us to continue to improve the lives of young people.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

The procedure is extremely simple. An individual can go to the website ode.systems and create an account with basic details. The app will guide you through the system. If any issue, there is the option to reach out to our team at hello@ode.systems. The person can also use the link https://linktr.ee/ode.systems to access all platforms we are active on to learn more and reach out to us!

Implementation steps

Download the mobile app or search ode.systems
The first step is extremely simple, to register an account and be a part of the ODE community. Decisions are not always possible and necessary to take within a day or even a few hours; we need to give time for ourselves to make better decisions. Therefore, we have created a guide for you to execute a couple of times to get used to and reduce stress for yourself. You can for sure speed up or slow down the process. It is of utmost importance for you to feel comfortable.
Seven Days. Seven Steps.
Create your schedule: How much time do I have? When do I want to make the decision? What is my expectation after finding the right decision? Am I ready to commit to making a decision?
Day-1 (On Step Beyond)
When you want to start your process, click “Add Decision” and enter your question to decide to start if you are unsure about the final question. Do not worry; you can specify later at any time.
The idea of ODE is to free your brain capacity. Start Brainstorming about what is important to you when thinking about the topic you want to make a decision on. You can write all your thoughts into the app. No worries, you can change, delete, correct, and add at any time during the process.
Day-2 (Values that drive me)
Today is the day of thinking, collecting criteria from different angles: Reasons that matter to you; you need to feel comfortable in terms of proof, emotion, and envisioning your goals. Take the time required and start with this once you’ve done your initial Brainstorming. Either you set the parameters for the measurement of each criterion now or later at any time. You can think about how to measure later as well. Take the day and add all criteria that pop up and which you feel necessary.
Day-3 (Social Enviroment)
This day is dedicated to thinking, reflecting, deleting, getting sensitive about chances, and grouping the criteria you managed in a very intense session with yourself and your future me. Now that you have added all the criteria, you can think about it. The next step is "Grouping."
Some Broad-scale factors determine your decision. Sometimes they can support you to get more ideas about criteria, and sometimes they show that some requirements will not help your decision.
Day-4 (Summarizing)
After Grouping is done, you will reach the fourth step, Priorities.
Over here, you will see the groups with the criteria you’ve added to them listed.
Take the Group with the highest importance to you to the top/left and arrange it the same way. You must have the Groups and the criteria listed in the prioritization way. You can also shift the criteria from one group to another by dragging it if you want it or need to correct it. Double-check it to know that the things that are important to you
Day-5 (Mindfulness Day)
Kudos to you. Right now, you solved more steps than coming up. But, to be honest, you managed the most difficult ones already: You have your criteria, and you grouped those and prioritized them by now. Take the day to think of any other you feel necessary to add Maybe you want some more feedback for the first steps, so you can utilise the feature of Feedback loop and invite your close ones to help you out in the process.
Day-6 (Bright Future)
Click on the next step of the process, “Options.” Here add the ones you had in mind when thinking about the criteria.
These are the ones from which you want to pick the one but cannot decide clearly. Add them in any order, whichever comes to mind, and name them correctly.
If you feel that you do not have sufficient information to list all Options, again go and talk with people or send out another feedback loop, “Options.”
Day-7 (Action)
Now you can evaluate the Options by the criteria. You will see that a lot of facts and figures and emotions, your gut feeling will form the total value of each Option step-by-step. Note that you need to fill all values; otherwise, you will see a cloud and notice that insufficient data forms the graphic on the next page. Once you take your decision and see/experience the outcomes. Go back and reflect. Learn from your decision. Build up your experience and competence. Your Decision, Your Life.
