We created Lexie in response to growing challenges in education systems worldwide. One of the most urgent issues is the global teacher shortage, which puts increasing pressure on educators to manage larger and more diverse classrooms with limited time and resources.
At the same time, teachers are expected to provide personalised learning, engage students, and support individual needs. This creates a structural gap between what is required and what is realistically possible. We believe that by rethinking these challenges, technology can be used not as a replacement, but as a way to support and extend human capacity in education.
In addition, students are changing: they are more visually oriented, digitally native, and expect more interactive forms of learning. We also identified a gap between school and home environments, where many students lack access to support outside the classroom, especially in multilingual or underserved communities.
Lexie was developed to address these challenges by supporting teachers, empowering students, and making high-quality education more accessible. By combining AI, holographic technology, and 3D visual learning, Lexie makes abstract concepts understandable, enables real-time differentiation, and lowers the threshold for students to ask questions.
Our goal is not to replace teachers, but to strengthen education by using technology in a smart and human-centered way ensuring that learning becomes continuous, inclusive, and scalable.
In practice, Lexie functions as a visible, interactive assistant within the learning environment. In the classroom, students can approach Lexie to ask questions, receive explanations, or explore subjects through interactive 3D visualisations. Lexie adapts its responses to the student’s level, enabling real-time differentiation without increasing teacher workload.
Teachers use Lexie as a support tool during lessons, for example to explain complex topics, provide additional instruction, or assist individual students while the teacher focuses on the group. Lexie can also observe student interactions and respond accordingly, offering more context-aware and personalised guidance.
An important added value is that students implicitly develop one of the most essential skills for the future: asking the right questions. By interacting with Lexie, students learn how to formulate questions, think critically, and actively engage with content skills that are becoming increasingly important in an AI-driven world.
Outside the classroom, Lexie Mobile (Mini-Lexie) extends this support into home environments. Students can use Lexie for homework assistance, repetition, or additional explanation in their own language. This creates a seamless connection between school and home, ensuring continuity in learning.
All educational content, including 3D animations, is shared through the Lexie Network. This means that schools with Lexie contribute to and benefit from a growing, shared knowledge base.
Lexie is currently being introduced through pilot programs and collaborations with schools, public institutions, and municipalities. Early implementations have demonstrated strong engagement and positive feedback from both students and educators, particularly in environments where accessibility and differentiation are key challenges.
At the time of writing, over 105 Lexie systems are actively deployed across the Dutch education market, each fulfilling a unique role within schools—ranging from classroom support and individual student guidance to information points in shared learning spaces. This growing presence reflects not only adoption, but also the flexibility of Lexie across different educational contexts.
An important aspect of this growth is that the market is simultaneously learning how to work with AI in education in a responsible and safe way. Lexie is designed to support this transition by offering a controlled, transparent, and privacy-friendly environment where students and teachers can explore AI with confidence.
The innovation is designed to scale through a combination of hardware deployment and a shared digital ecosystem. Through the Lexie Network, every new implementation contributes to a growing library of 3D educational content, accelerating adoption and increasing value for all users.
With current activities in multiple European markets, including the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Cyprus, Lexie is positioned for further international scaling.
Lexie is continuously evolving based on real-world use and feedback from educators, students, and partners.
A key development is the mobile version (Mini-Lexie), which extends use beyond the classroom into home and community environments. It supports homework guidance and personalised learning, and includes communication features, allowing users to call and be called through Lexie. This also enables social interaction, supporting individuals who may experience isolation.
We also developed a dedicated portal hosted by Lexie. Teachers can add and manage their own educational resources locally, fully aligned with their curriculum and teaching approach. All data is stored within Lexie’s local database, ensuring privacy, security, and control.
Students can log in via their own devices, such as laptops, to interact with Lexie outside the hologram. This creates a consistent experience aligned with the school’s identity.
Together with ongoing improvements in multilingual interaction, observation capabilities, and the shared 3D content network, Lexie continues to grow as a flexible and trusted platform across contexts.
Getting started with Lexie is designed to be simple and accessible for schools and organisations.
The first step is an introductory session or demonstration, where we explore the specific needs and context of the school or organisation. Based on this, Lexie can be tailored in terms of content, language, and use case (e.g. classroom support, homework guidance, or information point).
After installation, users receive onboarding and guidance to ensure effective use in practice. Lexie is designed to be intuitive, meaning teachers and students can start using it with minimal training. Educational content, including 3D animations, can be customised or selected from the shared Lexie Network.
We also support pilot programs, allowing schools to test Lexie in their own environment before scaling further. Through this approach, organisations can experience the impact directly and gradually integrate Lexie into their daily processes.
For international partners, we offer support in implementation, localisation, and content development to ensure Lexie fits seamlessly within different educational systems.
Organisations interested in trying Lexie can easily get in touch with our team to explore possibilities, request a demonstration, or start a pilot.
