The World lacks holistic science lessons aligning with sustainability and pedagogy typical in Finland - trusting the capabilities of learners. Finland has successfully incorporated holistic ESD to its curriculum and EduGems is leading the way with innovative research-based practices of how and why to include, learn and teach ESD in schools.
Future Innovators STEAM4SD programme integrates ESD throughout the school by combining ESD training for school leaders and teachers as well as student lesson plans and resources.
The training takes place on the EduGems Academy e-learning platform where participants can connect and receive support and guidance.
School leaders design an inclusive ESD action plan, which encourages collective actions and leaders learn to integrate ESD to school mission and curricula.
Teachers gain confidence and learn to embrace planetary perspectives, green problems, solution-focused learning and student involvement and to design ESD lesson plans.
The hands-on story-driven lesson plans support 8-18 years old students’ discovery, action and collaboration skills with student-centered STEAM for SD phenomena.
The curriculum is based on the latest novel ESD research eg. EU Green Comp and revised yearly.

Through extensive piloting and customer driven feedback since 2019 we have reached over 4500 teachers from more than 40 countries. We are constantly improving our key activities to better help schools incorporate ESD to their curriculum and lesson plans. It is the only way students will benefit from these lessons and be ready to tackle global issues and innovate circular solutions.
Spring 2023, EduGems has been nominated by the UN Association of Finland as the only nominee from Finland competing for the UNESCO - Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable Development.
Our goal is that by year 2030 EduGems will have trained a total of one million educators in Pakistan, India, Egypt, Philippines and Nigeria to be ready to integrate ESD throughout the school.
