Prepare for the same to explore and choose the best suitable career options through quizzes, upskilling courses, and real-world experiences through curated internships.

Our mission is to address the widening gap between skills needed and in-class education imparted, by connecting high school students to real-world professional experiences. We are inviting employers to create "A global initiative to mentor a future-ready talent pool of students, over the next 5 years” with a mission to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion for all students.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

IM founders in 2013 during high school, shared one common vision - find the one thing they are good at. While they were still teenagers, they wanted to explore as many skills as they could for their career discovery. Their journey kicked off months of fruitless exploration and research on deciding what to do. This led them to bridge the gap between valuable internships and capable students.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

Students from Class 9th to 12th use InternMart platform to make informed career choices by exploring matching career occupations using IM’s 3-step process to become future work ready.

• Discover: Identify natural strengths and relate it to potential college majors and career pathways
• Learn: Learn valuable new skills – hard and soft – required for collegiate and professional success
• Intern: Develop work ethic, professional demeanor, and experience in various vocations helping to make informed career choices

Students access the online platform via personal computers, log in to their personal accounts and follow IM’s 3-step process. They also can participate in “Learn from Leaders” sessions to gain appropriate insights related to their chosen careers.

At InternMart, we have enabled application-level parental control to ensure healthy and safe conversations between stakeholders and maintain a professional digital environment on the platform.

How has it been spreading?

After launching the digital website platform in 2020, InternMart has successfully conducted two cohort/pilot sessions which were a huge success. Employers as well as students loved it and found it to be an excellent structured process for their career discovery as well as short term goals.

We are planning to expand our reach to South Asia, and we have already started to incorporate the resources for Indian students.

Implementation steps

All the users are recommended to register themselves and complete the profile.

Discover (Students)

Go to "Career Map Test" to Identify natural strengths and relate them to potential college majors and career pathways Also, you can explore "Blogs" for latest trends and insights related to your area of interests.

Learn (Students)

Subscribed students can go through quizzes on 21st-century skills to test their current knowledge and work readiness. In order to brush up and fine-tune their skills students can further enroll in related courses on InternMart platform/InternMart-sponsored Coursera platform. During March-May InternMart hosts "Learn from Leaders" sessions and invites industry leaders and experts from various domains to impart knowledge to students.

Intern (Students)

Once students are prepared enough to work and contribute to organizations' short-term goals; they can start applying to available high school internships specifically tailored by InternMart experts for making it relevant for high school students. Employers can onboard the students and the internship continues.
