I hope to see education evolve into an active force for environmental responsibility. Through this innovation, I envision students learning not only about climate change but also contributing directly to solutions. Education should inspire action, nurturing young people as informed, compassionate stewards of the planet.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

I created GreenRoots to empower students with practical environmental knowledge and action. Many children, especially from less privileged backgrounds, lack exposure to sustainability learning. This project helps them connect education with real-life climate action through tree planting and environmental care.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

In practice, GreenRoots engages students in learning about trees, climate, and sustainability, then applying this knowledge by planting and nurturing trees within their school and community. Lessons combine agricultural science, environmental studies, and teamwork in a practical, hands-on way.

How has it been spreading?

Although GreenRoots: Students for a Greener Future is a new phase of my work, I have previously engaged students in tree planting activities across several schools. This project builds on that experience and is now being structured for wider impact, visibility, and replication through documentation and online sharing.

How have you modified or added to your innovation?

I have improved my previous tree planting efforts by turning them into a structured learning project. GreenRoots now includes student research, environmental documentation, and creative use of recycled materials. These additions make the project more organized, educational, and impactful for both students and the community.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

Start by teaching students the importance of trees and environmental care. Identify spaces within the school for planting and let students take ownership of nurturing each tree. Encourage them to keep simple records, use recycled materials creatively, and share their progress—turning learning into lasting climate action.
