Giddy2School aims to remedy the out-of-school crisis affecting 20.6 million children and youth in Nigeria by 2030 through targeted interventions and strategic partnerships, thereby reducing Nigeria’s unemployment and poverty index as a compound effect. Also, we hope to develop a cohort of young changemakers equipped with practical skills and strong leadership qualities.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

A GIS Report linked underdevelopment in Nigeria to illiteracy, civic apathy, unemployment, and lack of access to quality education. Post-Covid, 20.6 million youths are currently out of school. Apart from this, our formal school curriculum lacks the needed 21st-century skills. 7 in 10 graduates lack real-world application knowledge, hindering holistic development and problem-solving abilities.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

GIDDY2SCHOOL EDUCATION INITIATIVE is a nonprofit ameliorating the out-of-school and school
dropout index of children in low-income communities; rural and urban cities in Nigeria. While we have various initiatives around taking kids off the streets, our mission is to keep
children off the streets and in their schools until they graduate to reduce our communities poverty rate. An educated community is an empowered community.

The Innovation’s main objectives and activities revolve around:
1. Academic Revamps
2. Poverty alleviation palliative intervention
3. Fellowship, Career & Academic Mentorship.

In Practice, we are set out:
1. To support and empower young people through our tuition-free school, tuition aids, scholarships, and grants so they can be educated, self-reliant, solutions-driven, and responsible citizens,
2. To eradicate poverty having provided access to mentorship, quality education, vocational, leadership, and entrepreneurial skills through our Learning Management Systems

How has it been spreading?

Our innovations have been spreading through two major system designs:

1. Direct Beneficiaries: Our impact stories are on the increase yearly. Our book club programs have been expanding in secondary schools in several states in Nigeria, contributing to improved literacy rates.

Additionally, our academic fellowship program is designed to support secondary school leavers in transitioning to tertiary institutions. This program focuses on providing mentorship, scholarships, and opportunities for further education, and upskilling their leadership career.

2. Indirect Beneficiaries: We have developed an online leadership curriculum that is potentially accessible to millions of young leaders. This curriculum aims to enhance skills development and empower young people from diverse backgrounds.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

Our various projects are focused on solving various problems in our communities. A proper dive into our value propositions would be to identify what problem we want to solve. However, you can apply to our fellowship program, enroll your school in our Academic ICU intervention, enroll your school or pupil in our GiddyBook Club, as well as stay updated via our website and social media platforms.
