Eight years ago, my family and I started the Fundación M&M, which has assisted more than 700 vulnerable Colombian and Venezuelan migrant children. My organization is building everlasting peace and setting the foundations of peace, democracy, freedom, and respect for human rights. We have had representatives in the Young Ambassadors, One Young World Forum, UN Anti-drugs Forum

Why did you create this innovation?

Born in rural, violent Colombia, I defied odds with education. My organisation, M&M, empowers vulnerable kids with quality education, breaking cycles of poverty and violence. We aid Venezuelan migrants and Colombian rural children, providing essential education in various subjects.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

Fundacion MyM pioneers an innovative education model, empowering parents and students for success. Through assisted homeschooling, parents oversee education in non-technical subjects, while MyM delivers high-quality instruction in technical areas like languages, sciences, and programming. MyM recruits and trains self-trained locals as educators, fostering community continuity and mentorship. Academic alliances with prestigious institutions enhance educational offerings, ensuring students receive cutting-edge instruction. Personalized learning and small class sizes ensure tailored support for each student. MyM sustains its mission through a blend of tuition fees and scholarships, providing essential support for Venezuelan refugee children. In conclusion, MyM's approach revolutionizes education, nurturing leaders who will drive positive change in Colombia and beyond.

How has it been spreading?

In Villanueva, Casanare, Fundacion M&M emerged as a beacon of hope, starting with English classes for underserved students. Witnessing the positive impact, M&M expanded to offer holistic education, addressing the inadequacies of Colombia's public education system. Despite challenges, M&M currently serves 170 children (has served more than 800), providing education, transportation, and meals. By uniting Colombian and Venezuelan children, M&M fosters unity and challenges stereotypes, reshaping society through education. M&M's journey showcases the transformative power of education to break cycles of poverty and create change.

Replicating the M&M educational model demands passionate young leaders, financial sustainability, an international volunteer network, and community collaboration.
