As a former science teacher, founder Craig Jones recognized the need for greater insight into how his students were performing against standards. In response, he built a platform to help understand his students’ strengths and weaknesses. We believe teachers deserve faster, better formative teaching tools, making summative assessment no longer the primary way to understand student learning.
Formative’s flexibility in creating, assigning, and acting on assessments gives a confident, thorough understanding of their students’ progress. Teachers can create new “formatives” (assessments) from a wide variety of question types, or upload and transform existing content into the platform. Teachers can also borrow existing content from our Library of over 120,000 assessments, many of which are aligned to best-in-class curricula. All formatives can be tagged to existing state & national standards, helping teachers easily track student growth through our Tracker tool.
