What does your innovation look like in practice?

In practice, Art Beyond Labels takes the form of an inclusive and collaborative art-based education model that brings together students with special educational needs and gifted students in shared music, visual arts, and ceramics workshops. The activities are designed to ensure that each student can express themselves in a non-verbal, creative way, allowing for emotional connection, mutual understanding, and peer acceptance.

The innovation is implemented in weekly mixed-group art sessions. These sessions are carefully planned to balance the strengths and sensitivities of both groups. Gifted students often take on mentoring or collaborative roles, while students with special educational needs are encouraged to contribute their perspectives and creativity without fear of judgment. Each workshop ends with a group reflection, where students share how they felt during the activity, fostering empathy and emotional awareness.
