Para mi el programa ha sido bastante satisfactorio. Ha sido extraordinario sacar a los estudiantes de su zona de confort, verlos crear, y a mi como docente sacarme del contexto encuadrado tradicional

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

Kids need much more than discipline-based knowledge: kids deserve the opportunity to imagine new possibilities, create new realities, collaborate and expand what it’s possible for them and their communities. How can teachers support their students in this journey? What resources do we currently have in our schools? We believe that both collaboration and creativity are key.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

The online training program is structured in 3 stages: training, implementation and reflection. During 7 weeks, the pairs of teachers and teaching artists reflect and experiment the benefits of collaborative teaching and creative learning through different methodologies placed on a LMS platform that allows them to weekly work individually, in pairs and in small groups where they receive mentorship of trained creative agents.
The methodologies allow us to accompany and train teachers and teaching artists in the design, implementation and reflection of face-to-face and remote creative learning experiences that awaken in their students a passion for learning.

Through hands-on training where the pairs end up planning, implementing and reflecting on their own creative learning experiences, we promote collaboration between teachers and artists within the same schools, opening spaces to strengthen education through the arts and the integral development of students for the 21st century.

How has it been spreading?

Since 2018, we have been working with the local schools of Frutillar, a city in southern Chile member of the Creative Cities Network by UNESCO, as part of its commitment to address the ODS 4. In 2020, we decided to escalate the program in its digital version to the whole Los Lagos Region schools, which allowed us to train teachers in 8 different cities.

So far, we have trained 70 teachers who have worked with over 1500 students in 25 schools. The digital version of the training program facilitates its spreading not just within Chile but through the Spanish-speaking countries of Latinamerica, which is our goal for 2021.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

Starting the following 2021 academic year, we will have open calls for specific Spanish-speaking Latinamerican countries. So stay tuned in case you can apply. If we are not yet present in your country but want to be part of Aprendizaje Creativo Digital, get in touch with us!
