Purifying Air & Protecting Health – Affordable Solutions for Cleaner Spaces

Our air-purifying sachets target indoor air pollution by reducing harmful pollutants like nitrogen oxides, particulate matter (PM), and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Made with activated charcoal, they provide an affordable, sustainable solution for schools, buses, and public spaces, ensuring cleaner air without the high cost of traditional purifiers.

Through my Clean Air Campaign, I aim to educate children about the impacts of indoor air pollution, inspiring them to develop entrepreneurial and sustainable solutions to this pressing issue. By raising awareness, I hope to empower the next generation to take action towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal 11, fostering a commitment to sustainability and cleaner environments.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

I often experienced sore throats and allergies from dust and pollutants while commuting in public buses at school. This discomfort inspired me to create a solution that addresses indoor air pollution, aligning with SDG 11 for sustainable cities. My innovation helps reduce harmful particles and improve air quality.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

In practice, our air-purifying sachets feature a unique design with two layers: an inner muslin cloth filled with activated charcoal and an outer layer made from durable cotton duck fabric. These sachets are strategically placed near ventilation systems in buses or positioned by windows in public spaces to maximize their air-purifying capabilities. The activated charcoal within the sachets has exceptional adsorption qualities, allowing it to effectively capture and neutralize harmful pollutants, including nitrogen oxides, particulate matter, and volatile organic compounds.

By reducing these pollutants by over 70%, the sachets help create healthier indoor environments. Comprehensive lab reports and field experiments conducted in school buses validate the effectiveness of our sachets, demonstrating significant improvements in air quality. Our innovative solution is sustainable, affordable, and easy to implement in various settings, including public transport and crowded indoor areas.

How has it been spreading?

Our innovation has reached over 30 school buses, significantly improving air quality for hundreds of students. Through our Clean Air Campaign, we raised awareness and secured sponsorships and investments to fund this initiative. These partnerships have enabled us to expand into public areas, maximizing our impact. We have assembled more than five teams of dedicated volunteers, who are passionate about our mission. Our social media presence has grown rapidly, with over 10,000 page views and 60+ followers on Instagram within just one week of launching. Additionally, we have submitted our lab reports on adsorption tests and are in the process of submitting them to journals for further validation and recognition of our work.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

To try our innovative air purifying sachets, simply visit our website, where you can choose from three different varieties tailored to your air purification needs. (Air - flow, Air - Breeze, & Air - Aura) Select your preferred sachets and place your order easily online. Once your order is confirmed, we’ll ensure prompt delivery right to your doorstep, bringing cleaner air into your space.

Implementation steps

Clean Air Campaign (Step 1) : Awareness Session
Kick off the Clean Air Campaign with an engaging workshop focused on the impacts of indoor air pollution. Utilize interactive presentations to illustrate how air quality affects health and learning. Incorporate discussions around the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 11, which emphasizes sustainable cities. Encourage students to share their experiences with air quality issues, fostering a sense of community and urgency. This foundational know
Clean Air Campaign (Step 2) Hands On Workshop
Organize hands-on workshops where students can create their own air purifying sachets. Provide materials such as muslin cloth, cotton, and activated charcoal. Instruct students on the proper techniques for assembling the sachets, explaining the adsorption properties of charcoal in detail. This experiential learning not only solidifies their understanding of the science behind air purification but also fosters teamwork and creativity.
Clean Air Campaign (Step 3) Entrepreneurial Pitch
After creating the sachets, hold an entrepreneurial pitch competition where students present their ideas for sustainable solutions to indoor air pollution. Guide them in developing clear, concise presentations that outline their concepts, target audience, and potential impact. Offer tips on effective communication and marketing strategies. This exercise helps students practice public speaking, critical thinking, and business planning skills. Provide feedback on their pitches
Clean Air Campaign (Step 4) : Implementation
Support students in implementing their entrepreneurial ideas within their communities. Facilitate partnerships with local businesses, schools, or community centers to test their solutions. Encourage them to create pilot programs that showcase the effectiveness of their innovations, like distributing their air sachets in high-traffic areas. This real-world application allows students to see the impact of their efforts firsthand and encourages them to adapt and refine their ideas.
Clean Air Campaign (Step 5) Feedback and Evaluation
After implementing their projects, gather feedback from students, teachers, and community members. Conduct surveys or focus groups to assess the effectiveness of the air purifying sachets and the overall campaign. Use this feedback to evaluate the success of the Clean Air Campaign and identify areas for improvement. Encourage students to reflect on their experiences, discussing what worked well and what challenges they faced.
Clean Air Campaign (Step 6) Community Outreach
Extend the Clean Air Campaign by encouraging students to share their findings and successes with the broader community. Organize events or presentations where students can showcase their projects and educate others about the importance of clean air. Collaborate with local media to raise awareness of their efforts and the benefits of sustainable practices. This outreach not only amplifies their impact but also inspires others to take action.
