ChalkPad ai

Empowering Teachers. Transforming Classrooms.

In Bangladesh, one-third of teachers lack formal training, and classrooms average 45:1 students, leaving 65% of fifth-graders fail to reach expected level of proficiency in all subjects. ChalkPad AI automates lesson planning, assessments, and class notes to a consistent standard, reducing teachers’ prep time by 30%, which they can then dedicate to supporting and engaging their students.

Through ChalkPad AI, we aim to transform teaching and learning in under-resourced schools by empowering teachers to deliver structured, high-quality lessons efficiently. We hope to see a significant reduction in learning gaps, with more students achieving grade-level proficiency in foundational subjects like math and English. By strengthening teacher capacity and classroom engagement, the innovation aspires to improve long-term educational outcomes, increase student retention and performance, and ultimately enhance employability for young people, helping them meet the demands of the workforce.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

ChalkPad AI was created to address the urgent learning gaps in under-resourced schools in Bangladesh. Nearly one-third of teachers enter the profession without formal training, and classrooms often have 45 students per teacher, far above the recommended 20:1, leaving most students behind in foundational skills like math and English. These gaps persist through secondary and tertiary education, contributing to high unemployment among graduates.

We developed ChalkPad AI to empower teachers with AI-assisted lesson planning, assessments, and structured materials, reducing their administrative workload and allowing them to focus on engaging students. By combining technology with pedagogy, the innovation aims to improve learning outcomes, build teacher confidence, and create a sustainable path for quality education in marginalized communities.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

In daily classrooms, ChalkPad AI acts as a digital teaching assistant on a smartphone or computer. Teachers input their subject, and grade level, and the AI generates structured lesson plans, quizzes, and class notes aligned with the curriculum. A teacher who previously spent 12 hours a week preparing lessons can now reduce that time by 35%, freeing up time to interact with students, provide feedback, and address individual learning needs.

During the pilot in Maheshkhali, over 100 teachers used the platform across multiple subjects. They reported easier lesson preparation, consistent lesson quality, and improved classroom engagement. The interface is simple and intuitive, allowing even teachers without formal training to adopt it quickly. Localized content and multilingual support ensure relevance for diverse classrooms, making ChalkPad AI a practical, scalable, and teacher-friendly tool for improving learning outcomes in under-resourced schools.

How has it been spreading?

ChalkPad AI began as a six-month pilot in 10 under-resourced schools on Maheshkhali Island, engaging over 100 teachers and demonstrating measurable improvements in lesson preparation and classroom engagement. Following the successful pilot, the Government of Bangladesh recognized the innovation with the ICT Innovation Award, providing mentorship, resources, and access to a national network of 2,700 schools.

Building on this support, ChalkPad AI has been upgraded and is now gradually activating across these 2,700 schools, enabling rapid scaling and broader impact. The combination of government endorsement, technical guidance, and institutional access has accelerated adoption, allowing the platform to reach teachers and students in diverse regions and strengthen education in under-resourced communities nationwide.

How have you modified or added to your innovation?

Since its pilot, ChalkPad AI has undergone several key improvements based on teacher feedback and classroom realities. The platform now supports multilingual content to cater to diverse classrooms and aligns lesson plans and assessments more closely with national curricula. AI algorithms have been refined to generate more structured, standardized lesson notes and quizzes, making them easier for untrained teachers to use effectively.

Additionally, the user interface has been upgraded for greater simplicity and accessibility, ensuring even teachers with limited digital literacy can navigate the system confidently. Features such as real-time lesson suggestions, customizable templates, and adaptive assessment guidance have been added to enhance teacher autonomy while maintaining instructional quality. These modifications have strengthened the tool’s usability, scalability, and impact on reducing learning gaps.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

ChalkPad can be downloaded for free from Reflective Teens website. After a brief recorded orientation session, educators receive access to the AI tool on a smartphone, along with guidance on lesson planning, assessments, and class note generation. The platform is intuitive and user-friendly, allowing teachers to start integrating it into their daily classroom routines immediately.

Implementation steps

Step 1: Set Up and Orientation
Teachers download and access ChalkPad AI on a smartphone and complete a short orientation session. This introduces the platform’s features, shows how to input grade level, subject, and lesson objectives, and explains how the AI will assist with lesson planning and assessments.
Step 2: Generate Lesson Materials
Teachers enter lesson topics, objectives, and student grade levels. The AI generates structured lesson plans, quizzes, and class notes aligned with the curriculum. Educators can review, customize, and save materials for classroom use, ensuring they meet specific classroom needs.
Step 3: Implement and Engage Students
Teachers use the AI-generated lesson plans and materials in their classrooms, dedicating more time to student interaction, feedback, and personalized support. After each session, teachers can provide feedback to the platform, enabling iterative improvements and refining future lesson suggestions.
