Bildits is a unique STEM construction toy from Lebanon that I predict will be a hit when it becomes more widely available

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

We believe there is a disconnect between what children are learning at school and what is required for their happiness and success today as well as growing up.
The curriculum and pedagogical methods used in most schools today do not focus enough on practical day-to-day skills nor on essential soft skills like creativity, emotional intelligence, openness, critical thinking and more

What does your innovation look like in practice?

BILDITS EDU is a school workshop that introduces students to the worlds of construction and more through fun hands-on experiences.
Students design and build the house of their dreams with their own hands by following every step of construction: from designing the house, to constructing steel structures, installing formwork, pouring cement, building masonry walls, painting, and more. The program uses Bildits’ proprietary award-winning STEM toys and equipment that are miniature replicas of construction materials found in construction sites.
The curriculum is designed with help from experts from UNICEF. It provides students with a new interactive way to better understand themselves and the world around them. The workshop drifts away from the concepts of standardization and is given in a non-linear and personalized way. It focuses on developing soft skills such as creativity, curiosity, emotional intelligence, self motivation, acceptance of new ideas and others, communication and more.

How has it been spreading?

Lebanon: 2500 students enrolled in 2019 (Pre financial crisis)
Dubai: Launched our pilot in Dubai in October with 250 students
Winners of the 2020 HBS Arab Startup Competition
3rd place Invention Cup Award in Denmark in 2018
Shortlisted for the upcoming Reimagine Education Awards

Today, more than 40% of students enrolled in our workshops today are girls, which helps break gender roles traditionally found in STEM

If I want to try it, what should I do?

If you are interested to try our workshops in your school, or give a mini fun workshop for your team at work or any group, contact nadi@bildits.com and we'll work together on designing the adequate workshop
