We envision a world where every student, regardless of background, graduates not just with grades—but with grit, empathy, confidence, and purpose. The Edge is our step toward transforming education from exam-focused to life-focused—where readiness for the real world is not a privilege, but a promise.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

We created The Edge to solve a growing global problem: schools are under immense pressure to prepare students for a complex future, yet most lack the tools or time to teach life and career skills effectively. Despite the rising emphasis on SEL, financial literacy, critical thinking, and communication, these essential skills are often sidelined due to packed curricula and under-resourced educators.

We saw this firsthand while working privately (Through the Ascend Now tutoring arm) with students in over 20 countries. Many were academically successful but felt unprepared for life beyond the classroom—unable to manage stress, communicate confidently, or make real-world decisions. Teachers, too, expressed the need for ready-made, high-quality resources that didn’t demand extra prep or training.

So we built The Edge: a scalable, research-based platform that makes skills education easy to deliver and impactful for every student. It empowers educators, supports administrators with real-time insights, and—most importantly—helps young people build the confidence, resilience, and capability to thrive in the real world.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

In practice, The Edge is a plug-and-play digital platform used by schools to teach life, career, and SEL skills to students aged 13–19. It contains 115 modules mapped across five pillars—Personal Development, Communication, Active Citizenship, Learning, and Employability. Each module includes multimedia content, interactive activities, reflection prompts, challenges, and student toolkits.

Teachers can run sessions with zero prep using our built-in lesson plans and discussion guides. Schools can customize learning roadmaps by age, skill gaps, or educational goals. Modules align with global frameworks like CASEL and ASCA, and are designed to run flexibly—during homeroom, advisory, or enrichment time.

Students engage with skills like stress management, negotiation, digital safety, teamwork, and financial literacy in a relatable, non-academic format. Each module ends with an actionable challenge, helping students apply what they’ve learned in real life. Educators can track progress through dashboards and reports.

How has it been spreading?

The Edge has worked with thousands of students across 10 countries, growing through word-of-mouth, pilot programs, and strategic school partnerships. We've focused on international schools, public-private networks, and innovative educational organizations looking to implement soft skills at scale.

Growth has been driven by our platform’s flexibility and educator-friendly design. Teachers appreciate how little prep is required, while administrators value the alignment to standards and impact tracking. Students consistently report higher engagement compared to traditional SEL programs.

We’ve partnered with institutions like Georgetown University’s Summer College Immersion Program, who used The Edge to deliver skill-building modules to first-generation college students. We’re also expanding in markets like the UAE and Southeast Asia through government-aligned entrepreneurship and future readiness initiatives.

As we scale, we’ve maintained high fidelity with completion rates over 80%, and schools reporting measurable improvement in student engagement and self-awareness. We aim to keep growing by empowering educators globally with a platform that makes future-ready learning easy to implement and hard to ignore.

How have you modified or added to your innovation?

Since launching The Edge, we’ve continuously refined the platform based on educator feedback, student outcomes, and evolving educational needs.

We expanded our module library from an initial 40 to 115 structured modules across five key pillars, ensuring comprehensive coverage of life, career, and SEL skills. We added detailed teacher guides, implementation roadmaps, and multi-year progression plans to support schools of different sizes and formats.

We also introduced student-facing toolkits with worksheets, infographics, and at-home challenges—making the learning more practical and transferable. To support administrators, we created dashboards to track student growth, module completion, and engagement levels, helping school leaders make data-informed decisions.

For schools with specific needs, we now offer full customization of content pathways, age-appropriate adaptations, and co-branded rollouts. Most recently, we introduced a profile-building track to support students in connecting their skills to college applications and future goals.

All these updates have made The Edge more adaptable, scalable, and impactful—without ever increasing prep time for educators.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

Getting started with The Edge is simple. Schools or educators can visit our website at www.buildmyedge.com and book a live demo to explore the platform. During the demo, we walk through the module structure, implementation models, and customization options based on your school's goals.

We offer free pilot access for selected schools to run 2–3 modules and experience how the platform works in practice. This includes onboarding support, educator toolkits, and reporting dashboards. Pilots can be run during advisory, homeroom, or life skills classes with minimal training.

Once you're ready to launch, we provide a tailored onboarding and roadmap-building session. Whether you want to roll it out schoolwide, by grade level, or as part of a profile-building or advisory initiative, we’ll support you every step of the way.
