IMAJEN education

Cross-curricular learning facilitated through artistic activities

The aim of IMAJEN education is to empower teachers with adaptable skills and research-based knowledge. Findings from my Masters suggested that some teachers in South Africa are unaware of the learning potential of Art, and lack the training to integrate artistic activities into their teaching. IMAJEN workshops address this issue while encouraging the development of skills and content knowledge.

About the innovation

IMAJEN education

What we do?

Empower teachers with creative skills... we unleash the unique artistic abilities found in everyone... Yes, even you! We investigate the underlying thinking skills that can be developed during the artistic process (Hetland et al., 2013) and discuss cross-curricular learning opportunities. Participants gain adaptable skills and pedagogical knowledge that can be applied to their teaching. The focus is thus, on the application of skills in real-life educational practice.

Why we do it?

To encourage active involvement in the learning process, where learning can be fun for both teacher and child!
