What we do?
Crayon Collection encourages kid-friendly restaurants and hotels to collect their gently-used crayons and donate them to a local underfunded school in order to intervene in a cycle of waste that has existed for decades. We also work with actual artists to create art projects using a crayon as the main tool in order to encourage creative learning. So far, we have collected more than 18 million crayons that would have otherwise been thrown away and served over 2000 schools, providing them with crayons and our free art education program.
Why we do it?
Our program prevents millions of crayons from being discarded each year. Given that teachers spend an average of $900 out of pocket for basic supplies, our repurposed crayons meet a crucial need for both classroom supplies and art resources, and help redirect millions of crayons from landfills. Through the simple act of saving a crayon, we seek to create a new "eco-normal" consciousness that inspires families and communities everywhere to be stewards of the environment and local communities in need.
