Youth Ambassador Programme

The Youth Ambassador Programme in partnership with IBO as part of Festival of Hope supports young changemakers to create and build upon social impact projects addressing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Through online workshops and discussions, opportunities for mentorship and ongoing engagement in a closed Discord channel, Youth Ambassadors learn, ideate and collaborate to make a positive impact in their communities while addressing global questions. In addition to providing support to these young changemakers, this programme builds a supportive, kind, inspiring and safe online community of young people aged 13 - 19.

Applications for the cohort of September-December are open from May 27 to June 20, 2024.

FAQ

Q: Is there a fee for the programme?

No, there isn’t a fee for the programme. This programme is entirely free of charge.

Q: Do I need to be IB student to participate?

No you do not need to be an IB student to participate. If you are between the ages of 13 - 19 years old (during the time of the Programme) and passionate about changemaking, we want to hear from you!

Q: Do I need to speak English perfectly in order to join the programme?

The programme is held in English - the online sessions, conversations and most resources will be in English, so it is important that you are able to communicate in it. However, you do not need to speak or write it perfectly, simply well enough! Nobody will be checking grammar ;).

Q: Is there any travel involved?

No, there is no travel involved. The programme is entirely online. The platform where we will connect is Discord, where we will have an online forum and will be able to chat anytime.

Q: How much time do I need to commit to the programme?

There is no compulsory amount of time that we request Youth Ambassadors to dedicate to the programme, but in order to get the most out of it, we encourage Youth Ambassadors to use around 1 hour weekly during the three months of the programme to connect with others, attend some online sessions or participate in workshops with inspirational speakers (which will be also recorded, so it will be possible to watch them later). In addition to that, those who are working on their own social impact project would dedicate time according to their own availability and interest.

Q: How will I attend the online meetings, if we are all in different time zones?

Since we have youth ambassadors all over the world, some online activities will be organised in the morning and some in the afternoon (EET, UTC +2). We will have two online meetings monthly (on Saturdays) at different times so that it's possible for Youth Ambassadors to participate in either one of them. In addition to this, there are sessions and workshops at different times during the week. Many resources and materials are pre-recorded, so that everyone can look into them at their own pace.

Q: When does the programme take place?

The programme has two cohorts. In 2024, the first cohort takes place from February until May, and the second cohort from September to December 2024.

Q: In what language will the programme be held?

The programme will will be held in English.

Q: What are the main goals of the programme?

The main goal of the programme is to provide a space for youth to use your voice in order to create change. You will be doing this by connecting with inspirational young people around the world, by learning about the SDGs and by getting the skills to create your own social impact project.

Q: What will I get at the end of the programme?

Youth Ambassadors will receive a Certificate of Participation by HundrED and IBO, in addition to countless connections to young people all over the world ✨.
