Founder, The Starving Artist
Dr Ally Zlatar is an artist, scholar, and activist. She is the founder of The Starving Artist, an initiative using creative practice to advocate for systemic reform and amplify marginalized voices. She also established The Starving Artist Scholarship Fund, which supports individuals in accessing inpatient mental health treatment. Her global campaign “This Body of Mine” engages with migrant experiences and uplifts individuals and artists from refugee-seeking backgrounds.
Ally has been recognized in Forbes 30 Under 30 for Social Impact (Asia, 2025), the Commonwealth Innovation Awards (2023), and the Princess Diana Legacy Award (2021). She holds a BFA in Visual Art & Art History , an MLitt in Curatorial Practice , and a Doctorate examining embodied experiences of mental illness.
