Aftab Opel is the Country Director of IPA Philippines and Bangladesh, with nearly three decades of experience in development. He has worked on implementing and evaluating programs in socio-economic development across Asia. Previously, he served as the first Country Director of VisionSpring Bangladesh, focusing on market-based solutions for clear vision among those living on less than $4 a day. As Head of Programmes at WaterAid Bangladesh and Sector Leader for SNV in Laos, he oversaw various water, sanitation, hygiene behavior change interventions and capacity-building programs. Additionally, he has published numerous articles on poverty and migration.
