Scaling promising innovations to achieve systems change and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 4 has been a growing focus in education. This report outlines the outcomes of a two-year collaborative project between Global Schools Forum, Schools2030, and HundrED, supported by the Jacobs Foundation under the Schools Action Learning Exchange (SALEX), which addressed the challenges of spreading effective innovations at scale.
Despite the plethora of existing frameworks, our three organisations have seen how education practitioners face barriers like inaccessible language, fragmented tools, and unclear pathways to scaling solutions. This project aimed to clarify scaling concepts, pathways, and stakeholder roles, synthesising them into one comprehensive and user-friendly tool. Through a multi-phase process — Alignment, Discovery, Exploration, and Observation— we synthesised existing frameworks, gathered practitioner insights, and created a pilot of the online Education Scaling Navigator.
