WITH THE BEE - FOR THE BEE

Students from our school are encouraged to increase their interest in the life of Carniolan bee (Apis mellifera carnica), and long heritage.

Today the bee is threatened through the presence of varroa in bee colonies, intensive farming with the use of pesticides in the Neretva valley, climate change and enviromental pollution. The bee should be protected, because its collapse would completely destroy the natural enviroment and consequently treaten the survival of our planet. We shared photos taken in school garden as a respect for a bee.

About the innovation

What is WITH THE BEE - FOR THE BEE

What we do?

Pollinators allow plants to fruit, set seed and breed. This in turn provides food and habitat for a range of other creatures. So the health of our natural ecosystems is fundamentally linked to the health of our bees and other pollinators. Maintaining our native flora also depends on healthy pollinator populations,so we went to research the bee's existence. The students took some photos in the school garden, searching for the bees, and named each photo after old Croatian proverbs!

Then we sent photos on " the Unesco International ASPnet Photo Competition" "With The Bee-for the be 2016",and won a reward! (Certicates of my students and me as a mentor included!)

Also,we followed the influence of mobile phones on their colonies during a fwe months. We share the research on enclosed photos.

Why we do it?

They are largely an integral part to many ecosystems and losing them means losing birds, mice, squirrels, flowers and weeds the same.
