About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

This innovation was created to provide students with a voice and with the opportunity to write about real world topics and issues. Too many young people do not have a place to share their thinking. Teachers are looking for a way to spark creativity and critical thinking. 'The Global Write' is that place. Using innovative tools like Wakelet, Buncee and Flipgrid submitting caters for all learners.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

The aim of 'The Global Write' is to inspire students to write at a deeper level. To do this they must be exposed to topics and prompts that push their level of thinking into the learning pit. Too many times students write what their teacher expects them to write, unchallenged and at a surface level. Through this innovative writing initiative students are exposed to real work issues they need to respond to. It also provides them with a forum to share their writing on a global stage with a global audience. 'The Global Write' is a must in every classroom.

How has it been spreading?

'The Global Write' is currently in 146 classrooms around the world and spreading rapidly. Teachers are commenting that students are writing at a deeper level and respond positively to the feedback from global educators and fellow peers.
