We work with STEM organizations, hubs and communities of educators to complement traditional academic learning with an in-depth introduction to STEM, ICT and Digital Literacy by providing the content, resources and tools needed to drive innovation, evaluation and scale. Our content are tailored to young people of ages 6 – 25 years preparing them for the jobs of the future in Africa

TechQuest STEM Academy

What we do?

We inspire African technology; raising the next million builders by imparting the building blocks of STEM, ICT and Digital Literacy; leveraging technology and community channels for scalable operations, minimal cost and a wider reach.

We believe that STEM is the foundation for modern-day economic growth and equipping young people with these skills will be critical for Africa’s rise in the digital economy.

Why we do it?

Africa’s over 1 billion population will double by 2050 and 70% will be below the age of 30. Are we preparing our kids for the future of jobs in Africa?

Digital literacy is increasingly becoming an essential life competency and the inability to access or use digital technologies has effectively become a barrier to educational development, social integration and personal development.

Our organization’s focus is consistent with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 on Quality Education, 5 on Gender Equality - empowering women and girls, and 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth. Improving the STEM and digital literacy skills and capabilities in Nigeria, should help reduce inequalities and improve future job opportunities for her citizens.

Kuunda 3D Teachers Training

The Kuunda 3D team were present in the country to deliver a specialised training on 3D Modelling and Printing to ICT teachers in Oyo, Rivers and Kano states. The ICT teachers were introduced to 3D Printing, how to use a 3D Printer. The teachers were able to model various designs and projects after the training.

TechQuest Summer Camp

TechQuest Summer Camp is an intensive 2-week Information Technology Training Program designed for primary and secondary children. Participants will learn the fundamentals of the web, animation, robotics and game design using tools and a standard curriculum. At TechQuest, we believe every African child should learn (know) how to program a computer. We target a minimum of 30% female participation. TechQuest programs are an engaging, fun-filled experience for children in a conducive environment through hands-on interactive lessons and projects.

International Day of Women and Girls in Science

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science highlights the reality that science and gender equality are both vital for the achievement of internationally agreed development goals, including the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This Science fair is an IHS initiative in partnership with TechQuest STEM Academy for female students in Junior Secondary from low fee-paying private and public secondary schools in Lagos, Nigeria. The 2020 Science fair had up to 180 female students in Junior Secondary from low-income schools in attendance. The participants had 3 sessions; ICT (Coding & Programming), Engineering (STEM & Robotics) and Basic Science

TeachAKid2Code

TeachAKid2Code is a project initiated by TechQuest with an initial minimum goal of training 5000 kids across 7 states in Nigeria. The program went on to train 5252 kids in partnership with Google.The method of delivery is through a community of educators trained to teach at TechQuest Clubs, created in schools as extra-curricular activities during times specified by the school authorities.

STEM Expose

The goal of the program is to communicate the benefits of entering a STEM educational pathway and how young people can make a change in their communities by getting involved in the STEM field. This program is intended to reach more students, therefore contributing to the goal of getting more people involved in STEM and its associated fields. The program features exposing students to STEM for 1 hour. The program also aims to share available resources (Videos, Textbooks, and help track schools, teachers and students’ interest and progress over time.

MTN mPulse Hackathon 2019

MTN mPulse Hackathon was an online Hackathon competition for the brightest young minds from various states in Nigeria. This hackathon held in partnership with hubs and STEM organizations across the country that are dedicated to training young people in STEM education. The Hackathon which held in August 2019, had 720+ children (ages 9-14) who participated across the country using the MTN-TQ portal. The children signed up on the portal to participate in the hackathon, accessed text and video learning resources, participated in a quiz, and submitted their final projects based on what they learnt in their categories.

Mission-T Teachers Academy

The Mission-T Teachers’ Academy aims to train teachers on selected courses (Web Design, Mobile App Development with App Inventor, Games and Animation Design using Scratch, Digital Electronics, Robotics and Web Development using WordPress) to complement Classroom engagements in the schools. The Teachers Academy held in 3 states of the country (Oyo, Rivers, Kano).
