STEM On Track

Answering the question "When will I use this in real life?"

STEM On Track is a year-long programme that empowers students to build their own Racing Kart, discover the applied STEM theory behind it, and race it in the Grand Finals against other competing schools. Exploring real-world STEM through gamified lessons, students gain essential skills in engineering, problem-solving, and resilience.

Target group
We hope to awaken more students to the possibilities offered by STEM. STEM On Track aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-life applications, inspiring children who previously struggled in mainstream education to explore STEM careers and develop essential skills in problem-solving, teamwork, and resilience that will support them for the rest of their lives.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

We created STEM On Track to engage students who ask, “When will I use this in real life?” By building and racing karts, students experience STEM in action, connecting physics, engineering, and math to a hands-on project. From designing graphics and pitching to sponsors to collaborating with real engineers, the program mimics real-world teams and shows how diverse STEM roles shape our world, inspi

What does your innovation look like in practice?

STEM On Track is hands-on, high-energy, and full of real-world impact. Students don’t just learn STEM, they live it. They take on roles in engineering, marketing, and sponsorship management, working as a team to build, design, and race their own kart. Every session blends practical skills with theory, making STEM exciting and relevant. Schools structure it to fit their timetable, whether as an enrichment programme, STEM club, or curriculum project. Industry partners, F1 teams, and major sponsors add real-world connections, showing students where STEM can take them. The competition format keeps engagement high, with teams earning points through learning modules, practical challenges, and race day performance. The result? More confident, skilled, and inspired students ready to take on STEM careers.

How has it been spreading?

STEM On Track has gained traction through partnerships with schools, industry professionals, and educational networks, reaching students in diverse communities. We engage with educators through workshops and events, sharing resources and demonstrating the impact of hands-on STEM learning. The programme’s success stories and growing community support help attract schools and sponsors, accelerating its spread.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

To bring STEM On Track to your school, contact us through our website or reach out to our team directly via LinkedIn. We’ll guide you through the setup process, provide access to our online learning platform, and supply all materials needed to start the programme, including kart kits, tools and educational resources.

Implementation steps

Sign Up & Onboarding
Register your school and confirm participation. You’ll receive access to our Learning Management System (LMS) and onboarding resources.
Receive Kit and Assemble Team
We’ll ship everything you need; including the kart chassis, components, and tools, directly to your school. Then assign student roles; engineers, designers, sponsorship managers, marketing leads, and more. This is their project to run!
Build & Learn
Using the LMS, students follow step-by-step guides to assemble their kart while working through interactive STEM modules covering maths, science, and engineering principles.
Test & Refine
Once the kart is built, teams test it at the track and refine their machine through the performance modules - just like real-world motorsport engineers
Race in the National Finals
Compete against other schools at our National Finals, attended by over 3,000 people, including industry leaders and our national partners like Alpine F1. Alongside the racing, students will explore the STEM Fair, packed with hands-on exhibits, career opportunities, and industry showcases designed to inspire the next generation of engineers and innovators.
Leave a Legacy
Many schools continue their STEM On Track journey, mentoring new teams and showcasing their kart at open days and events. The project is fully sustainable, students are guided on how to dismantle the kit, ensuring it’s ready for the next cohort. This way, each team leaves a legacy for the students that follow.
