About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

We had many leaders from schools wanting to capture the opportunity that had arisen for innovation and reinvention during Covid-19 lockdowns so that they could leverage any opportunities and not simply revert straight back to previous practice. We used HCD principles to design this workshop allowing organisations to reflect on what they have learnt and then to make decisions about how they pivot.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

After establishing the context for the organisational change or pivot we engage teams in a 2 hour workshop where we use a number of activities to step through the first three stages of the HCD process. The activities allow the team to develop a clear current reality, to set meaningful and contextualised priorities and to identify a number of practical steps that can be taken to bring proposed change to action. After the 2 hour workshop we engage with leaders to establish an action plan for next steps. We can work with both small teams and large and can operate in a fully virtual but interactive online workshop or in face to face mode depending on the requirements of the organisation.

How has it been spreading?

We have run the workshop in 35 schools across Australia and also with a number of organisations that operate in the education space to support schools and school systems.
Organisations who have engaged in the workshop have been full of praise for how the process has united their team and helped to provide clarity on what their priorities are moving forward in a strategic sense and the practical steps that they can take to get there.
