My long-term goal for the Integrated Youth Empowerment and Financial Inclusion Initiative is to create a future where every young person, regardless of their background or financial situation, has access to quality education, leadership opportunities, mentorship, and the resources needed to achieve their full potential. I envision expanding the initiative across Liberia and beyond, reaching thousands of students and young people through sustainable educational and empowerment programs. The change I hope to see in education is a system that is more accessible, inclusive, practical, and empowering. I want education to go beyond classroom learning by equipping students with leadership skills, entrepreneurship knowledge, financial literacy, digital skills, and critical thinking abilities that prepare them for real-life challenges and opportunities. Through this innovation, I hope to reduce educational barriers, increase youth participation in leadership and community development, and create stronger connections between education, employment, and entrepreneurship. My vision is to see more young people become educated, financially empowered, confident leaders who can contribute positively to their communities and drive sustainable national development. Ultimately, I want education to serve as a tool for empowerment, opportunity, and social transformation for all.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

I created the Integrated Youth Empowerment and Financial Inclusion Initiative because I witnessed many young people and underserved communities in Liberia struggling with limited access to education, leadership opportunities, entrepreneurship support, and financial services. These challenges often prevent individuals from reaching their full potential and contributing meaningfully to society.

As the Founder and CEO of the United Students Association for Education, Incorporated (USAFE), Legacy Loan and Saving Company, Incorporated, and Goll’s Movement for Progress, I wanted to develop a sustainable solution that combines education, mentorship, leadership development, entrepreneurship training, and financial inclusion. My goal is to empower people with the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to improve their livelihoods, become self-reliant, and create positive change within their communities. The innovation was created to build stronger communities, reduce inequality, and expand opportunities for future generations.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

In practice, the Integrated Youth Empowerment and Financial Inclusion Initiative operates through a combination of education, mentorship, leadership development, entrepreneurship support, and financial empowerment programs. Through USAFE, we provide educational support, youth leadership training, mentorship opportunities, and community outreach activities that help young people develop skills and confidence. Through Legacy Loan and Saving Company, Incorporated, we offer savings and loan services that enable individuals and small business owners to start or expand income-generating activities. Through Goll’s Movement for Progress, we engage communities in leadership, advocacy, volunteerism, and development initiatives. Together, these efforts create a practical pathway for young people and underserved populations to access opportunities, improve their livelihoods, become community leaders, and contribute to sustainable social and economic development in Liberia.

How has it been spreading?

The Integrated Youth Empowerment and Financial Inclusion Initiative has been spreading through community outreach, partnerships, mentorship programs, leadership trainings, educational support activities, and financial empowerment services. Through the work of USAFE, Legacy Loan and Saving Company, Incorporated, and Goll’s Movement for Progress, the initiative has reached students, young entrepreneurs, community leaders, women, and underserved populations across different communities in Liberia.

Its impact continues to grow through word-of-mouth referrals, social media engagement, volunteer networks, community events, and collaborations with local stakeholders. As beneficiaries experience positive changes in education, leadership development, entrepreneurship, and financial stability, they often encourage others to participate, helping the initiative expand its reach and influence. The long-term goal is to scale the model to more communities and create sustainable opportunities for thousands of people across Liberia.

How have you modified or added to your innovation?

Since its creation, I have continuously improved the Integrated Youth Empowerment and Financial Inclusion Initiative by expanding its scope and integrating new approaches to better serve communities. Initially focused on educational support and youth mentorship, the initiative has evolved to include leadership development, entrepreneurship training, financial literacy, savings and loan services, human rights advocacy, and community development programs.

Through the collaboration of USAFE, Legacy Loan and Saving Company, Incorporated, and Goll’s Movement for Progress, I have strengthened the initiative by creating more opportunities for young people, women, students, and small business owners. I have also increased the use of digital tools, social media engagement, online training, and community partnerships to expand outreach and impact. These improvements have enabled the initiative to reach more beneficiaries, address emerging community needs, and provide a more comprehensive and sustainable model for empowerment and social change in Liberia.
