GGC addresses the need to bridge the digital education gap in public schools as the global economy demands 21st-century skills. It leverages tech and transforms students’ screen time into productive learning, utilizing gullies as innovative spaces and mobiles to overcome resource constraints. By fostering youth-led communities, it ensures future leaders emerge from marginalized backgrounds too.
Gully Gully Code addresses the digital gap for underprivileged students by offering their first exposure to tech. It empowers students through community-driven, low-cost tech initiatives. Each community begins with a trained student leader who hosts sessions in local spaces, such as homes, schools, or outdoor areas. These 1-1.5 hour sessions use simple materials like chart paper and mobile phones to engage students in activities focused on storytelling, problem-solving, and digital exploration. Through the Code Mitra app, students identify local issues and illustrate them using block-based programming, creating animations or stories. Sessions also include games to build logic, puzzles for team problem-solving, and activities that promote collaboration. 70% of student leaders have led at least one peer session, and 58% of participants have created animations or stories based on local problems. This hands-on approach fosters creativity, logical thinking, and leadership skills. With chapters in two cities now independently led by youth, GGC addresses the digital divide, cultivates leadership, and fosters sustainable, community-driven learning.
Gully Gully Code (GGC) has spread through word-of-mouth, youth energy, and strong community visibility. We've reached 4,000+ students across 5 regions, including Maharashtra (Pune, Mumbai, Solapur, Nanded), Karnataka (Hubli, Bangalore), and Nepal. Currently, 75 student leaders are driving change across 75+ communities.
Chapters expand when a student is inspired to start a team, when leaders visit other communities, or when schools or NGOs invite GGC to support youth-led initiatives. By onboarding new student leaders after every community intervention, we ensure diversity and empowerment.
We've partnered with NGOS like CYDA, Umang, Bal Vikas Kendra, Satyarthi, and Pratham to leverage existing networks and expand our reach. We were also invited by Avasara Academy, leading to the onboarding of 20 female student leaders. Through these partnerships and our student-led approach, GGC is committed to fostering digital inclusion and driving sustainable change in every neighbourhood we reach.
Yes. Chapter Leads were new additions to the community initiatives we are scaling and focusing on sustainability.
