In Malaysia, food poisoning in school is a longstanding food safety issue. Although, Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia already implemented various promotional activities on food safety but awareness among students still not encouraging. So FUNTASTIC want to brings a FUN learning concept where students can play while learning about food safety knowledge.
Germ Attack! consists of 130 playing cards which are divided into several categories;
i. Identity Cards - based on ethnic diversity in Malaysia
ii. Food Cards - based on variety of famous foods in Malaysia
iii. Extra Food Cards
iv. Main Deck Cards - consists of 4 type of symbol
(a) Attack Symbol - Bacteria, Symptom, Contributing Factors
(b) Poison Symbol - Food Poisoning Attack
(c) Defense Symbol - Good practice to avoid food poisoning
(d) Bonus Symbol - Control and improvement measures taken in the event of food poisoning.
Game Objective - To eliminate opponent's food card and to defense your food card.
Gameplay based on real concept on how food poisoning happen in real life which is food card must be eliminated if player being attacked by opponents using their Attack Cards or player received Poison Cards from the deck. Beside that, player can block opponent's attack using their Defense Card. While player can use their Bonus Card to get advantages or privilege during playing.
Germ Buster Edu-Card Games: Germ Attack! has been played in several programs organized by the Food Safety and Quality Division, Penang State Health Department involving nearly 500 players since it was first developed in 2023. Currently, Germ Buster Edu-Card Games: Germ Attack! in the process of commercialization as we want to make it more available for everyone in Malaysia.
In addition, we also want to disclose this edu-card game in other countries and try to modify few cards to adopt in those countries accordingly. For example; new identity cards will based on common character in those countries while new food cards will based on famous delicacies in those countries.
