#EstudoEmCasa Apoia (#EstudoEmCasa@)

Juntos vamos polinizar conhecimento! (Together we will pollinate knowledge!)

#EstudoEmCasa Apoia is a Portuguese Ministry of Education project, created to help students with lost learnings due to the pandemic and lockdowns. It is a free-access platform where a diversity of resources created by teachers - presentations, videos, games, webinars, podcasts - are available. Our intention is also to give students a voice in their own learning process and autonomous work.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

#EstudoEmCasa@ was created to suppress the need students felt, mainly after the Covid -19 lockdowns, to recover lost learnings. Our aim is not to substitute teachers - they are essential and play the most important part in the learning process, but rather to complement their work and give students the opportunity to learn by themselves what they feel has not been fully attained or want to improve.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

#EstudoEmCasa@ is a free-access platform, where anyone can find different resources (exercises, webinars, podcasts, games, texts, etc.) on different subjects from the Portuguese curriculum, and study autonomously. We have been able to reach not only schools and students in Portugal, but many belonging to Portuguese communities abroad.
We also work directly with a group of partner schools, teachers and students, from whom we get feedback on the website and resources.
Most of our resources follow a specific structure where the user is invited to do one or more activities, assess his/her learnings, reflect on them, as well as go further on that process and/or share it with others. We try to make this process as attractive as possible, on a learning sequence logic, through a variety of platforms and tools.
We also count on a group of partners belonging to different entities (public and private) that enrich the project and materials we create for our audience.

How has it been spreading?

#EstudoEmCasa@ has only been on since September 2021. However, we are happy to say that this group of about 20 teachers, with the enormous help of an IT expert, has created a website that now lodges almost 700 different resources, 3 main projects developed with schools, and has reached more than 70 countries. Apart from the website, we are present on 3 of the main social media network platforms and keep close contact with our partners.
For our close future, we aim at reaching more students in and outdoors; creating resources specific for vocational educational training students; diversifying our materials; making more partnerships with individuals and entities (both public and private, from the academy and society) and strengthen our students and teachers' learning communities.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

We are a free-access website so, you only need to have internet access; a computer, tablet or smartphone; go online and write estudoemcasaapoia.dge.mec.pt. You will, then, be able to go through what we have prepared for you, share it, show it to friends, family, colleagues, ...the world. You are also invited to register as a student or teacher and be part of the community. We are here for you!
