About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

The motivation comes from observing the education of my daughter Isabelle provided by her local school & the lack of curriculum or a learning environment that develops creativity and behavioral skills. Isabelle is creative, thoughtful and a digital native, and we need to create learning experiences with contexts that are relevant for her generation and develop her skills for a very bright future.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

CURIOO teaches Creative Design | Entrepreneur | Digital + Behavioral skills in young people.
Step 1: Understand each student's aptitude, interests and talent.
Step 2: Design a learning program that supports the development of learning in their areas of talent
Step 3: Track and validate individual student responses to our subject areas and behavioral development activities.
Step 4: Provide real-time feedback on progress and skills development
To facilitate the learning experience, CURIOO built our own software system - CBAS (CURIOO behavior and aptitude system). Every interaction the student has with our lessons and activities is tracked across 8 key metrics. The insights gathered help inform areas of student learning progress, behavior and SEL development.
The next development is to use AI to build a personalized learning pathways that take students from beginners to deep competence.

How has it been spreading?

Launched in May 2020, CURIOO currently has 3,500 students studying our learning program across 6 countries on a weekly basis. By the end of the year it will be 8,000 students. We are opening a new learning Studio every month and this will increase substantially to one a week. Parents love the fact we are exposing their child to highly relevant skills and our students love being challenged to be creative and solve authentic, real-world problems.

In 2026, CURIOO will have over 40,000 students studying our program in our Studios and over 150,000 students online working collaboratively and building creative projects on our beCURIOO digital platform.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

Implementation steps

Find the Talent
Take our Aptitude Assessment conducted by a Learning Specialist to discover the child's individual aptitude, interest and talent. Parents also take an Aptitude Assessment based on their child. An interesting fact is that only 14% of Child and Parent Aptitude Assessments align!!! Parents do not know what their child is good at.
From the assessment we create a personalized learning journey for the student.
Define the Path
We work with the Parent on an agreed initial learning pathway for the child. This includes their weekly schedule and an overview of the learning objectives for the next 10 weeks with key milestones related to events, activities and feedback.
Coach the skills
The student starts our learning program. Student responses to classes and activities are observed by the Teacher and entered into our CBAS system. Over a series of lessons, we are gathering incredibly important insights into the students well-being, effort, tasks completed and behavioral responses to the activities. Over a series of weeks, we are able to create an individualized profile of the student's areas of learning interest and can start to encourage more personalization.
Develop the talent
Based on the detailed analytics we are gathering on the child's responses to the learning program, we are able to create a learning pathway for the student across our subject areas that encourages the development of knowledge and skills in areas they are interested in. This drives intrinsic learning motivation and our observation is that the child develops incredible self-confidence which leads to independence, initiative and self-direction in their learning.
Guide the future
As we take a child from a rank beginner in an interest and build that over time to deep competence we develop the learning pathway personalized for that student. We guide the student all the way from K to 12 and into a career or job. Students should not leave Year 12 at school confused about who they are, what talent they have and what they should do. It is 2023 and we have the data systems to provide clear guidance to young people.
