We spoke with leaders from major nonprofits in Texas and learned that the non-profit sector has an organized system for recording data but does not have the necessary resources to analyze them. The primary contributors to this problem are limited funding and technical proficiency. Most non-profits cannot afford to invest in data analysis and lack personnel with the necessary expertise.
Biokind Analytics is an entirely student-led 501(c)(3) organization that helps healthcare non-profits further their impact through data analysis. We achieve this by bringing together undergraduate data scientists across the country to apply classroom learning for positive societal impact. As we're continuing to expand beyond Texas and replicate our work nation-wide, we are observing that the lack of data analysis in the non-profit sector is consistent throughout the country. Biokind Analytics is the first undergraduate organization in the world that provides healthcare non-profit organizations with free data analysis services to help them achieve their goals.
In spring of 2023, Biokind currently comprises of eight regional chapters including Rice University, Brown University, University of Virginia, and Emory University. We have 15 non-profit partnering organizations including Make-A-Wish, ALS Association, OneStar Foundation, and National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). To this date, we have been able to analyze combined funds of more than 100 million dollars. Biokind Analytics is also in the process of training 10 more chapters including Duke University, Northwestern University, University of Chicago, New York University, University of California Los Angeles. These institutions will begin their chapter in summer of 2023 after their 4-month long training.
