AI Cards for Humanity aims to improve digital ethics education in schools & universities by providing easy & relatable pedagogy to establish a common ground & enable an informed discourse, with not just engineers & startup founders but also artists & policymakers. AI Cards for Humanity follows a forced choice mechanism & offers people the choice to use AI or not to solve a given situation, communicating the inevitable tradeoffs in ethics effectively. Considering DIGITAL ETHICS EDUCATION today: research and ideas around AI Fairness is difficult to understand. It is extremely difficult for people from students, engineers, researchers to policy and decision-makers and people who are creating AI solutions to antecipate the upcoming impact of emerging technologies and AI solutions. This is an issue due to the fact that AI is discussed in a dense and abstract way in scientific papers plenty of technical jargon and abstract/unrealistic scenarios that people do not empathize and do not connect with. So I came up with a solution: a innovative card game where people have prompts with simple language and realistic scenarios with real word dilemmas that they have to solve. In a nutshell people have to decide if AI should be used or not be used under specific situations or even to come up with they own solutions considering the impact of using AI !

The Friction Point…
Considering DIGITAL ETHICS EDUCATION today: research and ideas around AI Fairness is difficult to understand. It is extremely difficult for people from students, engineers, researchers to policy and decision-makers and people who are creating AI solutions to antecipate the upcoming impact of emerging technologies and AI solutions. In a nutshell people have to decide if AI should be used or not be used under specific situations or even to come up with they own solutions considering the impact of using AI ! The impulse to lend a hand is inherently human, rooted in morality & empathy to contribute to the well-being of others. However, once the decision to help is made, those in charge are confronted with a complex range of ethical nuances, such as determining which groups to assist and how to offer support without fostering dependency.
AI cards for Humanity invites players to engage in critical discourse & design thinking by presenting scenarios, such as the use of robotics in healthcare, and prompting them to choose between two distinct solutions while considering diverse worldviews and economic conditions. Participants must decide: Should they apply a similar technology in their own context, knowing the potential benefits and risks? Through this interactive process, participants actively discuss & explore the complexities of digital ethics, developing the critical thinking and decision-making skills essential for fostering responsible innovation in the future.
This innovative and educational solution aims to promote critical thinking around responsible innovation and train a million leaders by forcing people to consider various factors and choose whether to use technology or not to solve a real world problems.
The toolkit, now a resource for social impact leaders, will also be used to teach systems thinking and design thinking, allowing small, diverse groups of 4-8 participants to harness their collective experiences and leadership insights to collaboratively address complex challenges and drive meaningful impact.
AI CARDS FOR HUMANITY aims to promote critical thinking around responsible innovation and train a million leaders by forcing people to consider various factors and choose whether to use technology or not to solve a real-world problems and dilemmas. AI CARDS FOR HUMANITY is a gamified pedagogy concept designed to improve discourse around ethics of technology through our unique binary mutually exclusive alternative forced choice framework. Our toolkit nudges people to choose whether to use a technology or not in response to a certain situation where technology has been used somewhere in the world in the past. However, unlike giving people complex, abstract, unrelatable situations, we develop very simple, real world, relatable situations in which people commonly see technologies like AI solutions being used for determining credit score based on keyboard clicks. The design process lie the creation of curiosity hooks that resonate with users. These hooks include data points, cultural stories and hooks specific to different countries, and a humanistic face to elicit empathy. People get a chance to consider needs, socioeconomic conditions of situation of a new country, whose beliefs/worldview and resources may differ and thus force the people in the ethical tradeoff of optimizing for beliefs/worldview or resources.
AI CARDS FOR HUMANITY involuntarily forces students to think critically about the dichotomous nature of these technologies and consider impact on vulnerable, thereby facilitating a more relatable and engaging learning experience, crucial for navigating the complexities of responsible innovation and digital ethics. Our tool will not only introduce the joys of AI to users but will also place these technical solutions in the socio-political and economic ambit in which they were created in a friendly and engaging way, allowing users to consider them through various lenses. Furthermore, it will also allow users/ fellows to measurably see how different cultures and geographies behave differently to such technologies, allowing them to develop solutions in future considering the needs of local people. • Next steps, if any
