Feel the Heal HK

Mental wellness is a journey, not a destination.

Feel the Heal HK is a youth-led organization and the first international nonprofit organization established at my school. Feel the Heal HK consists of volunteers representing over 20 countries, and we make research articles regarding psychology/mental health. We are dedicated to fostering for mental health and we have a group of mentors if anyone requests for psychological help or assistance.

Through my innovation, I hope more people will be aware of the struggles people with mental health issues face. I hope we will be able to make a significant impact in our community as of raising awareness. Through our informative research, we also hope to gain a superior understanding of mental health ourselves and educate others as well too.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

I created this innovation because I was inspired by my fellow classmate who suffered from depression. She was helpless and had no one to turn to. As I was only 12 at the time, I began brainstorming on how to help not just her, but the entire community who suffer from similar issues. In October 2023, when I was 13, I finally launched my innovation, creating a website and social media platforms.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

There are 2 categories in my invocation: the research team and the mentorship team. The research team consists a group of individuals who write weekly research articles regarding psychology, and the mentorship team is a stand-by for applicants for psychological help, and they provide virtual counseling for those who apply. Both teams require great dedication and commitment. If they do not complete their required tasks on time, it could lead to expulsion from their roles.
For the social/marketing aspect of my innovation, I have a group of social media managers who diligently manage the innovation’s social platforms and engagement with other organizations with similar development goals. Our social media managers insinuate collaborations with other nonprofit organizations and make plans and methods to attract more volunteer/member participation and applications.
We are currently creating a Slack channel for our team to connect and work more efficiently.

How has it been spreading?

As a 13 year old with no parental assistance or assistance/support from anyone, establishing my innovation faced quite a few challenges. However, as of now, my innovation has reached around 1000 followers on social media platforms such as Instagram, and my innovation’s Linktree and reached over 1100 individuals. I started 2 fundraisers on behalf of my organization, and have efficiently engaged with more than 100 other nonprofits, who promoted my organization’s content. My organization’s team represents over 20 countries (India, Canada, United States, etc..), with our team’s age ranging from 14 to 33. We were invited to Reducing Stigma around Stress Management‘s webinar, in which our 19 year old representative gave an insightful speech on how to manage stress and anxiety.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

Implementation steps

Research Team
Our main focus in my innovation is researching. We have a group of reliable and diligent researchers, who do weekly research regarding psychology. If anyone is interested in researching, they can go to my innovation’s Linktree (which has reached over 1000 individuals) and fill in the application form. Our recruitment team will then inform them regarding their application status. After that, they will be required to do weekly research and send it to us by our email feeltheheal@gmail.com
Mentorship Team
Our mentorship team consists of skillful individuals who wish to provide virtual counseling when needed. If anyone is interested, they will go to our Linktree and fill in the application form. The mentorship team is highly selective and applicants are selected based on skills and experience. Our recruitment team will then inform applicants regarding their application status. After that, mentors will be contacted when they are needed to provide assistance to people.
Executive Team
Our executive team consists of a selective group of around 9 qualified young individuals. The executive team will be responsible for managing executive affairs and expanding our innovation to a regional or even national level.
As we launched applications for our executive team fairly recently, we are still processing applications.
If applicants are interested, they can visit our Linktree and submit their application. Our recruitment team will get back to them.
Social Media Team
Our social media management team consists of a group of young individuals. They are in charge of growing our follower count on social media and managing affairs with other organizations. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, so if applicants can apply anytime through our Linktree, and our recruitment team will reach out to them in a short amount of time.
