The new Saunalahti School started on the 1st of August 2012. It is the first multipurpose school building in Espoo integrating full day daycare center, school, public library, youth center and many activities after schooldays. The aesthetical school building is designed by Verstas Architects and it is fitted on the site. The design is based on safety and flexibility and the architects have considered pedagogical needs.
The number of pupils and staff will be growing each year until 2018. Then we will have grades 0 to 9, app. 800 pupils and 100 adults.
The emphasis is on drama, art, music, literature, handicrafts, dance and P.E.
In Saunalahti School every child is unique
That means that every child can learn in his own pace. We want to ensure the possibility to progress in peace so a child can take an extra year for learning if needed. We believe in love and limits, care and safety and enough welfare before learning. Teachers also need good knowledge about special needs of children; that means lifelong learning for every teacher.
