Who is Kirsten Simmons?

Kirsten is an educationist, mother, and creative humorist. She was raised on a farm in the South Island of NZ which was her first experience of outdoor education & strong family connections to the land. She lives on beautiful Waiheke Island with her most wonderful whanau Mark, Zach, and Leo at Talking Tree Hill; busily re-imagining education. Kirsten has taught in England, Italy, Taiwan, Singapore, and NZ in science, music, early childhood, primary schools, language schools, and University.

She has been an event manager to a thistle grubber to a Deputy head of a school to a start-up social enterprise.  Many different projects from opera to speaking events but always with the same thread…education. It's her passion, it's her love and sometimes her nemesis.

Kirsten's passion for children flourishing in education and life has led her on many adventures and travels but her purpose is this...she’s on a mission to tweak NZs education system to focus on the mind & body health of children in early childhood and primary schools with her outdoor awesomepreneur programme. Talking tree Hill is an accumulation of the heart & soul of what she believes education should look like in NZ today.
