HundrED is proud to announce a new agreement set to capture and share the impact of the BHP Foundation’s Education Development Fund (EDF) projects.
How does a teacher in Peru integrate a new STEM learning toolkit into their daily work in their classroom? What makes the process rewarding, sustainable and impactful for the practitioners working on the ground? These are the kinds of questions this collaboration seeks to answer.
HundrEd will dive deep into the grassroots experiences of educators and communities around the world bringing these innovations to life.
The agreement follows the recent launch of BHP Foundation’s US$10 million fund to accelerate innovative education projects that prepare young people for the future. Eleven organisations from Australia, Canada, Chile, Argentina and Peru have been awarded a share of the funding to test and validate new ideas. These early-stage or innovative initiatives are designed to help young people, aged 14-20, from underrepresented populations to overcome barriers to equitable participation and attainment in STEM education and/or skills for the future.
Through its agreement with HundrED, BHP Foundation will support these organisations in its EDF to document their learnings and their initiatives’ impact.
“Through this collaboration we can make sure valuable insights gained through the EDF portfolio are shared with the wider education community,” says Faith Rose, BHP Foundation. “We hope these pilots will add evidence to help to strengthen the sector and where successful, will be attractive and de-risked projects for further funding.”
HundrED will take a systematic, practitioner-focused approach to capturing the teachers' experience of implementing these funded solutions. By following projects for a minimum of six months, we aim to identify the key enablers and obstacles to successfully introducing, implementing and scaling equitable, high-quality educational solutions.
“We are eager to understand what helps teachers around the world successfully adopt new solutions in their classrooms. Capturing practitioners’ perspectives is crucial to the success of any educational innovation,” says Lasse Leponiemi, HundrED.
Throughout the project, we will publish stories, teacher testimonials, videos and articles that bring these implementation journeys to life. Follow the project and explore how innovations take root in classrooms here.
