What we do?
Our hands-on experiential learning approach aims to enrich children’s learning, broaden their horizons beyond the mainstream education, adding a new dimension to their way of thinking. Our unique program covers a wide array of content such as Junior Mad Scientist, Junior Astronaut, Junior Inventor, Junior Entrepreneur etc designed and created for children from 4 years old.
We have brought our programs to more than 200 classrooms in the last 3 years and have just launched a children’s co-creation space where ideas come alive – Thinkubator. This learning space provides a suite of services - We provide a range of services such as Afterschool Programs and Holiday Camps that allow children to learn by exploring and doing. We believe that through experiences, we can focus on the process of learning and encourage children to be curious and creative.
Why we do it?
At Explorer Junior, we believe that every child is a curious explorer, unique and special in his / her own way, and should be given the tools, opportunity and environment to learn at his / her own pace. Convention education today focuses on literacy and mastery which helps children to achieve good academic results. It teaches them heuristics to solve math problems in shortest time possible and to spell words correctly and to write beautifully. However, the over-emphasis on grades and outcome of learning, means children have little space to explore when there is only one answer to a question. This kills the joy of learning, the innate curiosity to learn and ability to think in multiple dimensions.
At Explorer Junior, we want to bring the joy of learning back to classroom again. We want to make learning fun & meaningful again. We want children to explore, such that while mastering the fundamental knowledge, they stay curious to want to learn more and can use these knowledge to create something or solve problem creatively.
Our unique Explorer JuniorTM learning approach based on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) inter-disciplinary learning pedagogy and Stanford’s d.school Design Thinking framework aims to re-engineer how classes are traditionally conducted - we prioritize the process of learning over the outcome; reframe failure and mistakes, allowing children to explore and learn through hands-on experiences.
