The significance of ethics education cannot be overstated in today's rapidly evolving technological landscape. We hope to transform individuals responsibly with the necessary critical thinking skills to consider these technical solutions in the socio-political and economic ambit in which they were created and to navigate ethical challenges effectively when developing these solutions in future.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

My journey began with my own research publication on ethical digital transformation, where I reviewed over 30 cases of use of digital technologies spanning seven sectors. I identified a critical gap in discussing these ideas with people effectively and conceptualized MoralMorpheus as a solution to provide a conducive environment for fostering critical thinking.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

At the heart of MoralMorpheus design process lie the 2AFC mechanism and curiosity hooks that resonate with users. These hooks include data points, cultural stories and geographical hooks specific to different countries, and a humanistic face to elicit empathy. People get a chance to consider needs, socioeconomic conditions of situation of a new country, whose beliefs/worldview and resources may differ and thus force the people in the ethical tradeoff of optimizing for beliefs/worldview or resources. By integrating these elements, MoralMorpheus involuntarily forces students to think critically about the dichotomous nature of these technologies and consider impact on vulnerable, thereby facilitating a more relatable and engaging learning experience, crucial for navigating the complexities of digital ethics.

How has it been spreading?

Our curriculum is already a part of many schools in India, and now also being introduced in freshman courses on AI in engineering universities in India. We are also now expanding to our first school in Japan this year, and an ethics case study will be part of India-Japan leaders program in Austria. Our current education kit in English contains two lesson modules, one workshop module, one semester long project module & one innovation module to allow educators customize our offerings to the existing courseplan.

We are supported today by Salzburg Global Seminar Austria, Goethe Institute Munich & Nippon Foundation Japan.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

We aspire to work with suitable partner organization to successfully adapt and promote MoralMorpheus in schools and universities in every region, & are already developing content matter in Hindi, German and Japanese. We are happy to arrange a meeting to present MoralMorpheus and its various offerings in more detail. Please kindly reach out to us at collaborations@moralmorpheus.com anytime.
