About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

My students began to study Arabic calligraphy mainly the Kufic font in Arabic language classes, and they were fascinated about learning and writing using the font, so we thought of converting it into 3D products in the engineering and Arabic classes.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

In the beginning, students learn the historical background of the Kufic font then they choose some famous words and phrases from Arabic culture, poetry, and Quran. Students are working individually or in groups and they start to designing process by using the foam material by hands, but at the same time, other students do the designing in the 3D programs. Designs can be printed by using 3D printers provided by the school.

This film shows the different stations, steps, materials, and machines that were used.
