Empowering teachers to create tomorrow's innovators through Design Thinking

Glittering Minds developed a program that helps primary schools adopt Design Thinking as the new framework for teaching and learning. The program amplifies teachers impact and helps them create tomorrow’s innovators, leaders and change-makers in their classrooms. It helps students develop the essential life skills required for success in the 21st century.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

The twenty-first century brings a new kind of economy that requires different types of skills and a new mindset. However, our education system still operates on a twentieth-century traditional pedagogy that doesn't meet today's needs.
I created Glittering Minds to bridge this gap to make sure children today develop the essential life skills and mindset they need for success.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

"PBL and Beyond" program uplifts teachers skills and capabilities. It helps schools adopt Design Thinking as the new framework.
Teachers start the program by participating in a Design Thinking online course.
Once finish the online course, teachers practice teaching Design Thinking in the classroom. They receive a step-by-step guidebook on teaching Design Thinking and a slide-pack for each session they facilitate in their classroom.
Everything is ready-made, so the teachers don't need to spend time planning these sessions.

This in-depth program allows schools to adopt Design Thinking as their new way of teaching and learning. The impact of this program is broad and deep as not only do teachers learn new skills, tools and methodology, but they also transform their mindsets and approaches across different disciplines.

How has it been spreading?

In 2019, the "PBL and Beyond" program was co-designed with primary school's teachers.

In 2020, two schools participated in the program.
To accommodate COVID restrictions, Glittering Minds transformed the delivery model of "PBL and Beyond" program to be delivered online.
The plan is to implement this program across more schools in 2022.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

"PBL and Beyond" is delivered online. Therefore, any school across the globe can participate in this program.
