Emoji board check in

Inspired by the RULER approach, students get to know what quadrant they may be feeling and expand their vocabulary. Using different tools to move back to centre (emotional agility) students demonstrate self management and can choose to move into and out of different quadrants. 

Examples of use: beginning of classes as a check in, where students tap an emoji before joining the class. Students name how they are feeling, we discuss what that emotion might be trying to tell us. Using non-violent communication techniques, students can express their emotions and use their bodies as a way to move towards centre. Out of shot is a 'tool kit' if students are unsure what to practice they can get ideas throughout the lessons and experiment.
