As Education Coordinator at Ocean Wise, my work focuses on engaging teachers and students in climate action and ocean conservation.

I have been working in the field of education in informal learning institutions including museums, conservation organizations, and botanical gardens for 15 years. Having lived across Canada, I have engaged with diverse audiences through program delivery and development. I am passionate about Climate Action, ocean conservation and literacy, Indigenous perspectives, and student-centred learning.

Why do you want to be a part of the HundrED Community?

I am excited to be a part of a diverse community with such widespread reach. I believe that work within this community will enrich our individual work helping students build skills and multi-faceted perspectives.

How can education support students to flourish?

Education can help students engage with their world, in meaningful ways. When students are empowered with skills, empathy, knowledge, and autonomy they are better equipped as global citizens.

What role does innovation play in education change?

In order to improve education to further meet the needs of students today, recognizing new local and global challenges ahead, innovation is key. Taking risks, veering from traditional teaching methods, and being responsive creates room for growth.
