An Instructional Designer, passionate about SEL, Climate Ed, 21st Century Skills and the arts
Umaima is an Instructional Designer with over 6 years of experience in the education and social sector in India. She's currently a Senior Manager - Training and Curriculum at Slam Out Loud, a non-profit that develops key Socio-emotional and 21st century skills through arts-based opportunities for children from disadvantaged communities. Her recent endeavor involves designing Art lessons encouraging children to think about the gendered impacts of climate change.
Umaima is passionate about leveraging arts for climate action. As an individual consultant with UNESCO for the Digital Games for Peace challenge, and one of the top 22 candidates from South and South-east Asia, she co-developed a digital game prototype and its educator's manual, which creatively addresses issues of climate change.
She worked with Piramal Foundation for Education Leadership on developing 21st century entrepreneurial skills and PISA readiness amongst Rural Govt. schools in Rajasthan, India. Previously as a Gandhi Fellow, she supported five tribal schools and communities over two years working on whole-school development.
She was as a consultant at the Ministry of Rural Development- MGNREGA (GoI), the world's largest employment guarantee scheme and co-founded a startup to support small-scale farmers adopt organic farming.
