Susan Oreski

Edmonton, Canada

I am an administrator with the Edmonton Catholic Schools and am blessed to have been principal at Our Lady of Peace Cree Language/Culture School and am currently principal at St. Rose Junior High.

I am interested in innovations that will help my students become confidant learners and excellent citizens.

Why do you want to be a part of the HundrED Community?

I would like to be part of the HundrED community because it is a fresh concept, a knowledge of global innovations.

How can education support students to flourish?

Education takes the student and allows them to flourish by providing new, interesting and innovative ways of learning that stimulate the want to learn. Only when the student becomes engaged in their own learning will real strides be made.

What role does innovation play in education change?

Innovation is necessary in education because sometimes bureaucracy can take too long to make change. Innovation brings creative ideas to life that may fit what you are searching for. They are play a role in the day of the school and the life of the students.

Three HundrED innovations you love. (and Why?)

I love Project Everyone: World's Largest Lesson because it uses Global Goals to promote thinking and awareness. I also like Green School Way because it is a student guided approach to sustainability. The third innovation I like is Creative Classroom- Phenomenal learning from Finland. Sometimes creativity can be stifled, but this approach teaches creativity in the classroom.

Three innovations you would love for HundrED to know about. (and Why?)

At Edmonton Catholic we have an innovation that is based on Self Regulation. It has made an impact at my school. Another innovation we utilize is 'Moving in the Hallways' . This is another Self Regulations piece that we use.
