Future of School Education - Long-lasting success in professional learning needs a ‘culture of learning’ and this is where he feels that till teachers do not take charge of their learning, there is no future. The teachers need to discover themselves, they need to discover more methods, they need to share more and overcome the lack of professional learning. With the explosion of information on the internet and low-cost data services delivered in India, it was high time for the PLCs (Professional Learning Communities) to take charge. As the Founder of Learning Forward India, I am very keen to support teams to design the Future of Learning – which could be focused on the level of the classroom and transformation in organizational culture.
#HappyTeachersHow can education support students to flourish?
Schools help empower students by creating an environment for the personal and social development of an individual. By subscribing to the My Good School philosophy of quality in education, offering an environment where experiential learning is made possible through activities beyond just study, brings to life learning that would otherwise be theoretical and uncoordinated. #MyGoodSchoolWhat role does innovation play in education change?
Personal and Social development of an individual forms the core of 'affordable quality education':
- The experiential learning must be made possible through activities beyond just study can consolidate and bring to life learning which would otherwise be theoretical and uncoordinated.
- Encouraging students to become involved in activities in the community outside the confines of the school curriculum will help develop their confidence, knowledge and contacts to follow passion after leaving school. This will greatly enhance the opportunities for their personal and social development.
- With teachers’ encouraging young people, they can benefit fully from what both the school and outside interests can offer, this can be a key factor in their progressing successfully through adolescence into a rewarding and fulfilling adult lifeWhat is the prescription for schools to deliver an affordable quality education? Our experience show there are some major steps needed to do this, some are listed here and you are welcome to connect with us for helping you deliver better.
We live in a society consumed by materialism and the desire for more. Does this mean our next generation of children will grow up being literate and numerate greedy consumers whose lives are judged by the size of their houses and the latest model BMW on the drive? Or can our society along with the desire of educators teach our children the values they need to take responsibility for living and learning? It's simple; the children are our future, it's our moral duty in schools to provide a Values-Based curriculum.
Complete education must encompass the full set of 22 Immutable Values: Appreciation, Caring, Co-operation, Courage, Freedom, Friendship, Happiness, Honesty, Hope, Humility, Love, Patience, Peace, Quality, Respect, Responsibility, Simplicity, Thoughtfulness, Tolerance, Trust, Understanding & Unity.
Three HundrED innovations you love. (and Why?)
Youth Ambassadors - for the first time young people are actually getting an opportunity to take charge of their leaning. Over the years the multiple stakeholders - Teachers, Students, Parents, Management and Governments - have made the process of delivering quality in education very complex to keep up their vested interests alive. The young people and more so peer learning is far more important than any other.
Showcase of Innovations - a unique platform to build the best network in the work to share learning and development and more so bring on board practitioners, who are the ones to take the lead. Policy makers and planners, as well as Advocacy agencies, have their agendas, the practitioner is a realist!
Diversifying Education - we talk of inclusion but need empowerment. To prepare the child to face the world, diversity and inclusion are the key and help us appreciate the real human values.
