N'guettia Simon Pierre KOBENAN
Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire
History and geography teacher. Founder and President and CEO - TEACH Côte d’Ivoire | Social Entrepreneur
Holder of a teaching degree in Tropical Geography obtained at the University of Cocody, Abidjan (Côte d'Ivoire), I am N'guettia Simon KOBENAN, a dedicated Certified Technical and Professional Teacher for whom teaching is a vocation and a passion.
Dynamic teacher, capable of designing and offering excellent interactive lesson plans specially adapted to the needs of each student in the private and public school networks, mastering perfectly the training systems called Pedagogy By Objectives (PPO) and Approach By Competence (APC).
I firmly believe that excellent education is the ideal means to change people's life trajectories and provide them with better opportunities for sustainable development and social and professional development.
Many serious problems of inequality and inequity observed during my years as a teacher prompted me to create, in 2016, Teach Côte d'Ivoire, a non-profit organization committed to equity and excellence in education in Côte d'Ivoire. Focused on leadership, Teach Côte d'Ivoire aims to help end inequalities in the Ivorian education system and facilitate access to quality education for all children living in Côte d'Ivoire, regardless of their socio-economic background, so that they can choose the occupation and social path that suits them.Why do you want to be a part of the HundrED Community?
I want to be part of the HundrEd community because I believe that the solution to the world's problems, especially those of education, must be sought globally. And, for me, the HundrEd Community is an ideal platform to help Teach Coote d'Ivoire achieve its mission, goals and vision.
I am a passionate educator for quality education for all children. As a teacher by conviction, I firmly believe that only an excellent education can change the life trajectory of individuals and provide them with better opportunities for sustainable social and professional development and fulfillment. The vision of Teach Côte d'Ivoire is: "One day, in Côte d'Ivoire, all children, regardless of their social background, will have the opportunity to have a quality education. »
The problem of education in Côte d'Ivoire is systemic. The resolution of this problem requires the involvement of different actors from all sectors of socio-economic activities. That is why, Teach Côte d'Ivoire, in its strategic approach wants to involve leaders from all sectors of activity in the public and private sectors. Our approach is new and innovative in the local context.
The innovation of our action lies in our theory of changing the situation. Indeed, Teach Côte d'Ivoire plans to achieve the creation of a dynamic national network of passionate and committed leaders in the cause of educational equality, in order to achieve a profound change in the education system.
Transformational leadership remains at the centre of our strategic approach. It is what fundamentally distinguishes us from other organizations.
For us, the teacher remains the essential actor in any education system. They play a major role in the acquisition of knowledge and skills by the learner.How can education support students to flourish?
To address the low level of the Ivorian education system, Teach Côte d'Ivoire will contribute to the emergence of well-trained and continuously supported teachers. These teachers will be recruited among the most promising national leaders of tomorrow from the best national universities and abroad.
The solution of Teach Côte d'Ivoire is both short and long term.
To improve the low level of completion and acquisition of basic skills of children, Teach Côte d'Ivoire will work directly with students from the classroom to develop the potential that exists in them and improve their academic performance. For example, Teach Côte d'Ivoire will provide transformational leadership training to the most promising future national leaders recruited to enable them to acquire transferable leadership skills to deeply impact students and improve their academic achievement and performance in the classroom as teachers (for two years).
To help end the many disparities and inequalities in the Ivorian education system, Teach Côte d'Ivoire will develop an ecosystem of national leaders made up of former participants of the Teach Côte d'Ivoire programme (alumni) who will sustainably combat educational inequalities and promote excellence in education in Côte d'Ivoire.What role does innovation play in education change?
Pour Teach Côte d’Ivoire, le problème est d’ordre systémique.
Le leadership constitue la clé de l’approche stratégique du projet. Ainsi la théorie de changement envisagée est axée autour de trois principales activités qui comprennent :
1- Le recrutement, la sélection et l’enrôlement des leaders nationaux de demain les plus prometteurs des meilleures universités nationales et à l’étranger ;
2- La formation initiale, le coaching et le soutien continu des leaders sélectionnés pour faire d’eux des enseignements transformationnels ;
3- Le placement pour une durée de 2 ans des leaders sélectionnés et formés en tant qu’enseignants contractuels à temps plein dans les écoles secondaires (publiques et privées) où se manifeste un réel besoin d’enseignants qualifiés ;
4- La mise en place d’un réseau d’anciens participants engagés à lutter contre les inégalités éducatives.
