Mark Burke

I am currently involved in the CLIL (content language and integrated learning) programme in Seinäjoki, Western Finland, where I teach English, science, history and health education, across the three key educational stages. I am the CLIL coordinator for the secondary school and I am involved with European language projects, currently working as part of a team developing a cross curricular program which will be shared with counterparts in six countries (https://adibeproject.com/)

About me

I'm interested in the development of language literacy using cross curricular engagement. I'm a hands on teacher involved in many subjects through team teaching and a qualified geography, chemistry and health education specialist. I'm an advocate of relational learning and try to include this in all aspects of my life. Understanding a students learning needs succeeds well if you understand the student. I'm a fan of language friendly schools and believe engaging parents in a school network can be a positive and useful experience.

Why do you want to be a part of the HundrED Community?

Who wouldn't want to be part of a community where we share ideas and interests? HundrED has given me new perspectives on how do drive my own visions forward and I find it encouraging to see so many positive people and ideas devoted to building creative and proactive educational systems for students.
