Why do you want to be a part of the HundrED Community?

I have heard so many wonderful things about HundrED.  I have had the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues Argy Nestor and Lindsay Pinchbeck on an innovation Express-A-Book, which is being submitted this year as an innovation. I am looking forward to seeing if I can be involved in this community more through this proposal.

How can education support students to flourish?

Education provides the opportunity for creating space for curiosity and  wonder.  Learning is all about collaborating,  mentorship, and relationship building.  When we create safe spaces for students to explore and we as teachers can find ways to humbly learn from our students while providing some structures in which to play, then we will raise each other up and innovate together.

What role does innovation play in education change?

Innovation is part of the creative process. More important to ask is "what role does the process of innovation play in education?" There will be plenty of mistakes, failures, and misguided attempts at innovation before innovation happens, and these are so much more important often then the innovation itself.

Three HundrED innovations you love. (and Why?)

Smiling Minds- Mindfulness Curriculum

Mindfulness is so very important to education, and to the life that we live.  I recently did an express-a-book with some colleagues, in which we read a book called planting seeds, and we expressed our thoughts about the book in our own way. Mindfullness practices are a vital part of my day, and so wonderful to help our student find the importance of this.
