Ambassador

Communicologist by profession, communicator by conviction. I have been enjoying the education phenomenon since I was 13 years old, from helping smaller kids homework, summer camps, English classes, to be part of an international institution as a master programa professor. I am a proud member of the Mount Rose College (Colegio Monte Rosa) Community at Mexico City, and part of a growing movement in Hispanoamerican Education by Santillana Press: UNOi. I believe in what I do and enjoy talking about this wonderful opportunity that we, the members of the education pheomenon, have: impact our community; it´s up to us to decide how to do it.

About me

I am Eduardo Garcia, and I have been enjoying the education phenomenon since I was 13 years old, from helping smaller kids homework, summer camps, English classes, to be part of an international institution as a master programa professor.

Why do you want to be a part of the HundrED Community?

In this moment of my life I want to share what I have learned and what I believe in, and not only in my Country. Last year when I heard from HundrED at Bett Latin America, I knew this was a great international Organization to be part of, with such a relevant cause to work for and a great space to construct a social network that starts pushing in the right way.

How can education support students to flourish?

In so many countries, like mine for example, schools are still a picture of a society that doesn’t exist any more, students are being prepared to be the perfect worker in a local job, instead of guiding them to be a perfect citizen that lives in a global world. Schools around the world have the unwavering commitment to attend children in the most important part of their personal development, the stage of life where their future is being constructed.

What role does innovation play in education change?

As it has been said: if we continue doing the same things, we can’t expect to have different results. The world is in its fastest age of innovation, so education can’t be just expectant and reactive, it has to be a starter. Its inimaginable what could we achieve as civilization if we hurry the innovation in education.

Three HundrED innovations you love. (and Why?)

"Redes de Tutoria", beside is the only innovation at HundrED from my Country, the peer to peer methodology is a great way to motivate students to share with others their major interests.

I love "ThingLink" and the way they promote in students the use of what I call "digital speech", not only produce attractive media, but first of all develop a great story line.

I think "Roots of Empathy" is a wonderful Program, that in my case that at our school kids from 2 to 15 years old are at the same facilities, makes absolute sense. We see every time "big kids" interact with the toddlers as part of intersectional activities, how they assume the mature role and express their love when they see them just walking in a "aaaauuuuhhhh" expression. Now if we do it as part of a planned Program, the effects will be exponential.

Three innovations you would love for HundrED to know about. (and Why?)

The only one that I can talk about right now as something to know about in my context is "Santillana's Press UNOi" (http://mx.unoi.com/), is the most complete and vanguardist Integral Education System in Hispanic America at this moment.

The alliances that support the System, the pedagogic methodology, the learning objects, the LMS, and the coaching  program that supports both principals and teachers to succeed in the permanent "Teacher Training Platform", are just part of the many parts of this avant garde proposal.

The student at the center of all community efforts is not a new concept, but this System helps schools very efficiently to accomplish that goal.
